You know, I was actually wondering what kind of pie that was, because it didn't look like pecan pie as I know it. We need a pie analysis.

Possibly buttermilk pie by the looks of it.
To be honest the texture reminded me of a backwoods pie.

Apropos of nothing, but I can't stop listening to the version of Don't Fear the Reaper that was used in Episode 4. Most of the music on this show has been good but that one song is particularly catchy (even though I prefer the original). Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way ;).

I don't have an mp3 of it or anything, but I find myself humming it when I make breakfast in the mornings now.

So, question: >>Do we think the "she" that Eric refers to is the vampire who turned Bill?<<

I am intrigued by your ideas and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Hee! I hope I'm right - I really want to see her again, because she was kind of mesmerizing/fascinating.

BitterSweet, ME TOO. I don't even like pecan pie that much but I was all, mmm, pie.

Also: what is a "backwoods pie"? It sounds like something one should be wary of? Heh.

Oh, P.S. Where can I get one of those nightgowns? That whole scene was too awesomely bizarre for words, but the floaty white nightgown was one of the best bizarre parts.

Backwoods pie is syrup custard in pastry kinda like butterscotch. It's Acadian and the Acadians took their recipes with them when they got shipped down south and turned into Cajuns.

This may be one of those episodes I like better on a second viewing, I don't really know why. Although I'm definitely kind of rolling my eyes at HBO showing this whole "NO ONE IS SAFE!!" preview last week, and then expecting us to believe that THAT death would happen.

I am also so, so relieved that Sookie realized that Bill left to protect them fairly quickly, because I could not have sat through a replay of New Moon.

Oh, and someone left me these links: Look at the way Bill's holding his hand and then look at this. This is right after Sam flounced out of Sookie's room in the funeral episode, by the way. I don't know what Sam's deal is, but between this and "not the time or place to mark your territory," Bill is totally on to him.

Sam's starting to annoy me and I hate that because I like Sam more than I like Bill. The Sam and Tara stuff is good but when it gets around Sookie I just can't stand him. But when he told Sookie that the stuff between her and Bill were their business but he wasn't welcomed in his bar anymore I agreed. Just because Sookie wants to hang out with the neighborhood vamp doesn't mean everyone else has to.

Yeah, that's exactly my position on it. Moping around after a girl is one thing, but moping around after a girl who's clearly interested in someone else--not really my idea of entertainment. Although I was a little sad we didn't get a huge meltdown from Sam over the revelation that Sookie had actually gone all the way (in more ways than one) with Bill, because I was looking forward to some hilarity on that front.

Which I guess they compensated for by... Sam randomly running naked through the woods? The hell?

(Not a spoiler, as I seriously can't remember what the deal with the naked forest running was from the books.)

I like the idea of Sam and Tara far more than Sam and Sookie, even if Bill wasn't part of the equation. But overall Sam just gets too...volitile too quickly for my tastes, and it's starting to turn me off the character, to be honest. Plus, he bitches that he can't be with Sookie and then turns right around and sleeps with Tara. ALSO, for someone who is apparently so hung up on Sookie, and slept with Tara because it was a 'one-time only' thing, he is sure pretty bitchy and needy when Tara treats their sexual relationship kind of like what it is - something pretty casual and not leading to anything remotely serious. Sam, you can't have it everyway you want, all the time.

Cleo, those are cool screenshots! I totally didn't notice Bill's hand like that and surely it can't be just coincidence. He obviously knows what the deal is with Sam (and I wonder if the other vampires also know as well, i.e. that they just immediately recognize another who is something other than human?) because the 'mark your territory' line was not chosen by accident. Plus I love the way in one scene (not in this episode but I think in the one where her grandmother dies? I can't remember exactly) where Bill is standing outside keeping watch over the house, and the collie comes trotting up and sits beside him. The way Bill slowly turns his head and looks down at the dog made me laugh, because Bill's expression was all "Oh yeah, you think so, huh?" Yeah, he knows Sam's a werecollie.

Well, early on Bill kept going, "What are you? You are MORE THAN HUMAN" to Sookie. (That's not a spoiler per se; I'm just saying, he immediately cottoned on to something being different about her. Well, and also she was kind of acting like a fruitcake anyway, but there you are.)

It's the funeral episode. I loved that not only did he just stand out there drinking his blood, the dog ran up and Bill was like "S'up" and the dog actually looked up at him like "Hey man" and then they both went back to watching the window. I love that dog.

I also loved that Bill had books down in his crawlspace.

So I jumped aboard the True Blood train. I'm not a big fan of Sam and Sookie's brother is acting a fool. Reading through the thread, it all makes sense if Sam is a werewolf and why his dog is always stalking Sookie. Also, it's hard for me NOT to compare True Blood to Twilight. It's probably not as ridiculous, but still-- whole I can hear people's thoughts and the one person whose thought I can't hear I hook up with. At least they don't fall stupid in love (at least immediately) and he doesn't stalk her while she sleeps.

Yeah, I always like to imagine Edward being very disappointed in Bill. And I love how often Sookie tells him off, like on every single point that made me want to slap Bella in Twilight. "You kind of scare me to death." "Because YOU DON'T BREATHE?" "Why ON EARTH would I continue seeing you?"

And then they totally get the biting and the sexing over with half way through the season instead of angsting for three thousand pages years over it.

That's because they are dirty, dirty heathen fornicators.

I finally saw all 7 episodes and love this show like Jason loves his V blood. Jason is pretty but so dumb it's a wonder his feet find the floor in the morning. I did like seeing the girl from Freaks and Geeks that Nick ended up with as the bohemian girl.

I love the attention to detail this show has, from the inspection stickers on the cars to stuff I can't remember now. My only nitpick has been the discussion about Jason watching the sunrise over the Gulf in the morning. It sounds like the show is set in central or north Louisiana, which is probably 6 hours from the Gulf Coast at least. Shreveport to New Orleans is a 6 hour drive, anyway. At least not everyone is Cajun, living in the bayou and using a pirogue as transportation.

I can't help it, but I like Tara. As the show goes on, and they tone down her character a bit, I like her more.

As Princess Cleo mentioned, I like that Sookie raises reasonable questions at Bill, like being freaked at his not needing to breath.

Tara broke my heart this week. I really love her character, which is surprising considering I hated her in the pilot. But little by little, she won me over. I think it all started with her telling that guy at that party in the second episode about her super jealous husband and how he shot a guy just for buying her a cd.

Sam's character went the other way. He's so irritating, I only like him when he's with Tara. Over the past 3 episodes, he's so annoying whenever it comes to Sookie, I just want to slap him silly. How about not making it all about you when her grandmother just got killed, jerk.

And word to the flashback scene with the creepy Uncle being well done and disturbing. The event itself is horrible enough, but hearing what the guy thinks while doing it... Poor Sookie!

I can't wait for next Sunday. The show's got me hooked.
