The Chromatics cover of "Running Up That Hill."  I don't remember downloading this, but I'm pleased I did.  Yay, narcotic(ized) Eurodisco.

I might have to check that out!

Is it as good as the Placebo version? 'Cause that just popped up on my iPod, and I'm reminded how good it is.

I'm going to download that right now...anything Kate Bush related is awesome.

I'm listening to More Than This by Roxy Music. It just randomly came on, and normally I love that song, but I'm too tightly wound to really appreciate it at the moment.

Not quite but almost (although I still like the Placebo version better). Pitchfork has a (IMO) fairly accurate review (with the narcotic Eurodisco ref) of the album the cover's from.

I was just listening to the new Pink song on i-tunes and there's some kind of crack in there about Jessica Simpson. I don't particularly care about Jessica Simpson, but dude, Pink. Girlfriend. You're not some unknown indie artist struggling. It's OK to be successful. You don't have to diss other singers to prove you're with it, or whatever, even if the other singer really *is* lame.

"We Close Our Eyes" -Oingo Boingo. Live version. Perhaps the most beautiful song of its era.

Chromeo's "Momma's Boy". A co-worker told me about them yesterday and they are hilarious and catchy, and Canadian, which is a bonus.

"Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve.

Quelqu'un m'a dit, by Carla Bruni. She has a lovely voice, I think.

Ooh, I love her. That whole album's great.

Was blasting "Carrying the Banner" from Newsies on the way to work and had to resist the urge to rock the jazz hands. That soundtrack rules my life.

"Lucid Dreams" by Franz Ferdinand. It's the new/leaked single (finally!) and it's making me think their next album will be worth the (already too-long) wait.

My husband has just had on, in order:

"Echoplex," Nine Inch Nails
"My Apocaplyse," Metallica
"Put on Your Sunday Clothes," Michael Crawford from the musical Hello Dolly, via the WALL-E soundtrack

Not on shuffle, actually choosing as he's sitting with his laptop.

...As I've been typing he's now gone on to something by Lupe Fiasco. Sometimes he's more jarring than shuffle. I'm thinking next up probably will be some kind of Japanese trance-trip-hop thing.

Miss Moneypenny- 09-09-2008
"Echoplex" is a fabulous song. I think I like eerie NIN even more than angry NIN.

GannetGuts- 09-15-2008
Definitely.

I acquired (legally!) the live album of the Fiery Furnaces to review. I don't mind them, some of it just seems like noise to me (damn kids get off my lawn), but I've had "Single Again" stuck in my head since I listened to it.

I'm listening the The Last Goodnight: Stay Beautiful. I love this song so much. It is so very sweet. Its fun and adorable at the same time.

I'm listening to a few of the songs here, which I found through stee's blog. It's a Belgian women's choir singing indie/rock/pop songs, and they're really interesting and pretty. Of the tracks linked there, the cover of Radiohead's "Creep" and Damien Rice's "The Blower's Daughter" are my favorites. Really gorgeous.
