"Under the Hedge" by Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. Can't...stop....listening...

leone- 02-06-2008
My favourite radio programme is doing a special (for want of a better term) on the ultimate guitar hero and so far tonight I've had the very great pleasure of listening to:
Paradise City - Guns 'n' Roses
Just Because - Jane's Addiction
Map of the Problematique - Muse
I am the resurrection - Stone Roses
Tattoed Lady - Rory Gallagher (live recording from 1974!)
You've Got My Number - The Undertones
Layla - Derek and the Dominoes
Unmade Bed - Sonic Youth

Absolutely sublime. This makes for a very happy leone.

Lots of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. I realized how much I enjoy their music after seeing them perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.

I didn't even realise that a lot of the songs that I knew were sung by him. I kept foing,"Oh he sang that? And that? And that?!?"

Me, too! That was my exact reaction during the halftime show. A friend of mine is a huge fan and I always made fun of her for it. Now I kind of have to shut up because they sing songs I like.

The Killers' "Read My Mind" has been popping up on my iPod a lot lately. I forgot how much I like that song. It's weird. I feel like I should think it's boring, but I don't. I cannot stop listening to it.

That's so funny to me, because Tom Petty has such a distinctive voice. I can't imagine not knowing it was him singing. Then again, his big heyday was when I was in college in the 80's, so I've been listening to his stuff for almost 30 years.

The Lady of Shalott- 02-07-2008
"Mexican Wine" by Fountains of Wayne.

WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME HOW AWESOME THEY WERE?

THEY ARE SO AWESOME! I have nearly all of their albums. PM me if you'd like some more of their stuff.

I'm on a Portishead binge at the moment, especially Glory Box, Roads, and Western Eyes. I'm so excited that their new cd is finally coming out soon.

I'm totally feeling Basement Jaxx this morning. Their album is such a pick me up

Agreed. The song I really love is "Hackensack", closely followed by "Radiation Vibe".

Ohhhhh Peaches- 02-14-2008
"Mood Indigo" by Nina Simone.

"Me and Mia" by Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. Almost certainly the best power-pop anthem ever written about eating disorders, and one of my favorite power-pop anthems, period.

katesti- 02-14-2008
The mash-up of "#1 Crush" and "Closer," which really should be banned from my work playlist, because...yow.
