I just laid hands on Shirley Bassey's Grea-*test*-('") Hits and have been listening to "Big Spender (Wild Oscar Mix)" and "History Repeating." Over and over again.

Also, I should look that good now, let alone when I hit 70.

Oh man. I just listened to "Overture" and "New World" (which is the Overture, but with lyrics) from Dancer in the Dark back to back. I kind of want to jump out a window now. And I haven't even seen the movie - the music alone is enough to make me ache.

I'm combining two geeky pleasures into one by listening to John Barrowman singing "Close Every Door".

What? That's one of the better songs from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. And John Barrowman has such a nice voice. Stop looking at me like that!

I have lately been entertained by watching not only Alanis doing "My Humps" on YouTube, but also watching Shatner do "Common People." I think the latter, while less over the top, is more entertaining, if only because the original doesn't send me into fits of rage.

(And this isn't iPod Shame Files, because YouTube ain't my iPod. There's no evidence I ever came into contact with either! Well, except for this post.)

I love Shatner's version of Common People. I can sing either part quite well, as long as loudly is part of "well" and I'm in the car. Alone.

Shirley Bassey is the freaking bomb. I've been wanting to get my hands on this remix cd. I may just break down and buy it.

Oh my. It went on my wish list just like that. Thank you thank you.

And, I'm listening to "Machine" by Josh Groban. For the thousandth frickin' time. I am way too obsessed with this song.

Yesyesyesyesyesyes. I love that song. It's so funky and awesome. Very danceable.

Wait. Josh Groban and dancing??? Does not compute.

Oh, totally. "Awake"'s got a lot of new sounds for him. What's more, I saw him live at Madison Square Garden in early March, and I took this admittedly crappy but very funny vid of Angelique Kidjo trying to teach him to dance. "The shoulder action! It's, like...weird...and yet...I can't stop." He's so cute. Just kill me.

Clearly David Lynch is screwing with us. How else do I explain this Norwegian rock/metal band named Audrey Horne? They're on MySpace, and I can't get their songs out of my head. They rock, but man. The album is titled No Hay Banda. Too awesome to be true.

Wow. Wow. I browsed NPR's "Driveway Moments" podcasts this morning and chose the recent interview with Yusuf Islam. The podcast's first song is a rendition of "The Wind" - it sounds so gentle and older, somehow. His voice is clearly out of regular use (it doesn't have the finely tuned nature of someone who's sung nearly every day for his whole life), but it's still the same person and it is wonderful. I'm so glad he's "back," although as he says, he really considers himself to be starting new.

Flathead by the Fratellis. The chorus is just so catchy and fun.

Okay so Martina McBride was on American Idol this week and now I just can't stop listening to her. Pretty, pretty voice and it's fun to try to sing along.

Where would yooooooooooooooooou be
If you weren't here with me
Who would you loooooooooooveeeeee
If you were single and free

True fact, I'm listening to Martina McBride and the new Bon Jovi song on a constant loop.

"Makes Me Wonder" by Maroon 5. I can't seem to stop listening to it.
