"Freewheel" by Duke Special. So lovely.

"The Last Fare of the Day" by Richard Shindell. I first heard it as a cover by one of my favorite local bands, and it completely wiped me out - I was bawling. Now I'm sniffling at work. (In a good way.) It's from the POV of a cab driver a few days after 9/11 and then a few months after that when New York was in the midst of a drought.

Unfortunately, it's not one of the ones uploaded on his site, but I encourage you all to have a listen if you can find it elsewhere.

I'm alternating between Modest Mouse's "Dashboard", Arctic Monkeys' "Leave Before the Light Come On", and the Kooks' "Naive". I just recently bought an XM MP3 Player/Recorder and I flove it. I can now record music legally to my MP3 player.

There are two songs I keep hearing that I can't seem to record in time - "Pranging Out" by The Streets and "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse. Someday I'll be quick enough.

"My, My Metrocard" by Le Tigre. Man, I love this song. Whenever I read a book where someone mentions a Metrocard or whatever I want to start singing it. Especially when the characters start singing it too!

Bloc Party- I Still Remember.

Really touching, and probably my current favorite off their new album. Which I think I'm going to spend the weekend obsessively listening to.

"Willow Weep For Me" by Dinah Washington. I wish I could sing like her.

La Cienega Just Smiled by Ryan Adams. Man, this song takes me back to 2 summers ago and now I want to mope.

Oh man, I love that song. "you should have asked me for it / how could I've said no?'. Sigh, so lovely.

I'm currently listening to Jenny by The Mountain Goats. It took me ages to get into them, but I think I finally understand. I love this song, anyway.

Flaming Lips, Do You Realise?. I love love love Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, not least because of the cracktastic title.

"No One" by Aly & AJ. I'm not even in a mood where I need to be self-affirming, but we were listening to the CD in the car on Saturday, and I had to put the track on repeat. Several times. And then I did the same thing this morning.

keenai, have I thanked you profusely enough for hooking me up with that CD? Because - thank you! I adore it so so much.

I'm currently listening to "Convite Para Vida" from the City of God soundtrack. I've never seen the movie, but I snagged this song off Audiography at some point, and I love it. I can't not chairdance.

The Shins: "Australia", off their new CD. I am rapidly becoming obsessed with this song. It hosts "la la las" and "ooh oohs", fantastic vocals, and a catchy-as-hell melody, and I think there's a ukelele in there. And the way James sings the ending line! Awesome!

This is definitely going on my workout mix.

Happy Mondays, Bob's Yer Uncle. Very catchy tune, but those lyrics are pretty twisted.

Thanks to my iTunes shuffle, I heard "Don't Fear the Reaper" immeadiatly followed by DJ Sammy's "Heaven."

Sometimes I seriously question Apple's claim that the shuffle is "random."

"Bigger Than My Body" by John Mayer. Apparently, I am in a self-affirming mood.
