I got Breakfast Club from Netflix, because I'd never seen it. (I know. (I KNOW.))

I liked it a lot, unsurprisingly!

I finally got round to Children of Men last weekend and it was bloody fantastic. Excellent direction and superb cinematography. Loved it.

Oh, I loved Children of Men; Alfonso Cuaron did a brilliant job with it. I watched a few months ago, and I haven't seen anything that's kept me on the edge of me seat so much as that movie did. Seriously, so intense, and so good.

That movie was fantastic. It left me a complete and utter wreck but I loved it all the same. I want more from this director.

Miss Potter was a pleasant enough distraction this afternoon. It was all very twee and proper, but I enjoyed it in spite of all that. I could imagine a marathon consisting of this movie, A Little Princess, and the first Anne of Green Gables mini.

I watched Unbreakable last night. I didn't think it was as bad as some people make it out to be. It had a slightly abrupt ending and the script needed a bit of editing in other spots. Rather interesting idea.

I'm watching Notes on a Scandal with my mom. Dame Dench is deliciously creepy, and I just adore Bill Nighy.

ETA: OO, and now Cate Blanchett is going all batshit crazy!

I just watched The Hidden, a sci-fi thriller from the late eighties starring Kyle Mclachlan and Michael Nouri. I can't remember whether someone here mentioned it and that's why it was in my queue, but I totally enjoyed it. I'd never heard of it before and wasn't expecting much, but it kinda rocked! It was a nice surprise.

I mentioned in the Watchmen thread how I think a lot of Unbreakable's reputation comes from the fact most of America didn't know what to make of it--it was a deconstruction of a concept a lot of people weren't really familiar with on a mainstream level. The "And the hero and villain are often friends, like us!" statement while true, (And also kind of heartbreaking) it probably wasn't a common trop for movie audineces, although now with stuff like Spider-Man, X-Men and Fantastic Four (and the reinvention of Superman and Batman) it's something I think people might appreciate more.

I can't believe I haven't seen Keeping Mum before, because I love it.

Driving Lessons, which was good. Laura Linney can play an uptight bitch really well.

I finished season 2 of Felicity recently, which was fantastic. I liked how there were more light moments and comedy during the second season, but the show still kept its overall spirit. I enjoyed the increased screentime for Javier, who always cracks me up.

Wasn't that awesome?????
I love that movie. I like how the look of the film is sort of dark and dreary at first and becomes lighter and cheerier as it goes on -whilst the story becomes more macabre and insane.

I actually really like that movie, but I personally would have taken out the epilogue-text at the end. That's only for biopics/based-on-true-stories, IMO.

So you're saying the epilogue title-cardery didn't work for Can't Hardly Wait?
