Finally got around to watching Ghost Rider, and wasn't disappointed. Mostly because I had such a low opinion of the movie going in. Miscasting rumbles aside, I did like the effects they used to render the Ghost Rider effects, as well as the on the other demonic figures.
Up next: Bandidas. I guess this was silly movies week?

I watched High Fidelity, and that movie was not for me! Too much wanking!
Watched Unfaithful, first half was excellent, with all the sex, the second half was boring! drama, blah!
Bourne Supremacy was fun.
I suck as a movie critic!

Shooter.
Which, yes, I saw in the the theater. Sadly, I don't think my TV is large enough to properly contain the hotness of Mark Wahlberg, and the explosions and what not are, of course, less fun on the small screen.
Antoine Fuqua's commentary is ok, I found it interesting that he had to fight with Wahlberg's management to get the >> scene where Mark is mostly nude on the bed getting surgery, because it was too reminiscent of the Calvin Klein ads.<<. Apparently he fails to understand that Mark's bodily hotness is pretty much the best part of the movie.

From the evil chick who is wearing her sexy underwear and shooting guns |
It really is one of those movies where if you start to ask yourself, "Why must she open her dress up to shoot people?", then clearly you are asking the wrong questions.

The Talented Mr. Ripley.
I'd seen it before, but wow, what a fantastic movie. Jude Law back when he was just a cute and capable British actor with hair, instead of skeevy and balding. Young and thin(!) Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow (who I don't like) was perfect. I cannot believe that Damon didn't get an Oscar nomination out of it.
Wonderful movie, anyone who hasn't seen it should check it out. Great acting, interesting story, just a great, mature movie.
Matt Damon has been gipped out of a couple Oscar nominations now, hasn't he?

She's The Man is so adorable. Channing Tatum Channing was hot as ever - and I loved seeing him being a dork - and wow, Amanda Bynes was awesome. Can you think of any other starlet in her demographic who'd be caught dead in drag, with a tampon up her nose? Love her.

Every since I saw that film, I've been wanting to use the line "Girls with butts like mine dont talk to boys with faces like yours."
katesti- 07-09-2007
It's "Girls with asses like mine," which makes it even better and I am totally saving it up for the perfect moment.

My boyfriend made me watch Battlefield Earth. At first I thought this was a subtle way to break up with me, because who would subject someone he loves to such horror? I like bad movies but this was going too far! Fortunately, Thank GOD, he showed me the version with the guys from MS3TK doing commentary. I would not have survived that movie without it. Because of the snark, I enjoyed watching it, but I really can't comprehend how his friends can watch that movie over and over again just to find new things to make fun about it. It's not even visually interesting - everything's so *blue.* "I used to like the color blue. Now I hate it. Goodbye, ocean. Fuck you, sky!"

Tonight we watched a cinematic masterpiece like no other. Yes folks we watched Transporter 2. It was deliciously and insanely awesome. We laughed, we snorted, we shouted at the screen, "oh my god" and then we giggled some more.
I watched the last 15 minutes of the movie Saturday night and had forgotten how cheesy the "plane" in the "sky" actually was. It was so a model, but at least the movements in the studio were fairly accurate to the how the plane moved. Plus, Jason Statham beating up 10 guys with just an iron bar. I'm glad he has his own line of movies. Any word on Transporter 3?

I can't stop watching Strictly Ballroom. It's so beautiful, and the dancing is so sexy, particularly in the scene where they're dancing to Doris Day's "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps."
I love that song...and the movie! I love when they're dancing outside the studio in front of the Coke sign. Baz said it cost almost as much as making the movie to get the rights to use the sign.

Is anyone else scared at how many people have seen Epic Movie?
I've seen "My Big Fat Independent Movie" or something like that. It took bits from Amelie, Pulp Fiction, Memento, Mulholland Drive, and more.

I actually enjoyed The Libertine when I saw it in the theater.
This was the first movie I rented when we hooked up the HDTV. Not quite what I expected.
I rented something over the weekend. Obviously, it was so inspiring I don't even remember what it was! Love OnDemand!
The Dude- 07-09-2007
OnDemmand Airport '75 and Airport '77. Thanks to 75 I know where airplane! got all of its jokes. 77 made me nostalgic for the piano bars in 747, flying's gone to hell since those days.

Lohan. But real life, not a movie role.

Wait, My Big Fat Independent Movie was supposed to be Chris Gore's directorial debut or something. He was kind of crowing about it for a while. And he just made a parody movie? Douche.

I have the house to myself this week, so can watch whatever I want (and don't have to cook. And can put my nightie on as soon as I get home). Tonight I watched Starter for 10, and was bopping along quite happily until it ran slap-bang head-first into the wall of my public humiliation squick, and after that it and I were never quite comfortable together. Good music, though. And it reminded me that I would never have survived at University, and it's about time I stopped being bitter about never having had the chance to have gone.

You talk about Gore like he's robert Altman or something.
