We watched The Notorious Bettie Page over the weekend, and I thought it was fantastic. Really well done, and who knew Gretchen Mol had a performance like that in her? Loved loved loved. And lots of pretty.

| My boyfriend and I watched From Hell. I thought it would be fun because of my Johnny Depp crush and his Heather Graham crush. But it was really stupid. I normally love Johnny but he looked like he was sleepwalking through the whole thing. And the less said about Heather Graham's "English" "accent," the better. |
Johnny's character is an opium addict so sleeping through the role would be appropriate, but definitely not one of his more exciting roles.

Invincible, which I absolutely loved. I'm such a sucker for all of those Disney, true life, tearjerker movies. Plus, Mark Wahlberg is hot. I'd definitely rec it, especially if you like football.

Opium addict or not, he committed the crime of being completely boring in the movie, something I didn't think he was even capable of.

I saw Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself yesterday. I really, really liked it. Even if I was expecting a Danish movie and everyone ended up being Scottish. And I was pleasently surprised by Mads Mikkelson. He can be hot when he's not bleeding from his eye.

Watched The Matador this weekend starring Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, and Hope Davis. Not as good as I'd heard it was, but still pretty decent. Greg Kinnear is always just so goshdarn likable in all his movies.
Also tried to watch Stay with Ryan Gosling, Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor, but about 30 minutes in I gave up. I can deal with drug-induced hallucinations, time travel, ESP, paranormal events, and shaky camerawork individually, but not all at the same time and definitely not all in the same scene.

Stay hey, I never like it when the people in the movie get to be higher than me. That movie proves my hypothesis that if Ewan McGregor or Angelina Jolie star in it, it probably sucks. God help us all should they ever work together.
I watched An Inconvenient Truth, to which I say, "Oh fuck." Especially since literally the day after the news reported that large portion of the Canadian Arctic ice shelf broke off into it's own island and may drift into oil/shipping lanes. Whoopee.
Lucky Number Slevin I...can't help myself, I am hopelessly charmed by the shuffling unibrow duffus that is Josh Hartnett. It was genetically passed on by mother who forced me to watch 40 Days and 40 Nights just for him. But actually this wasn't awful and is the perfect renter. Infinitely more entertaining when you're in your pajamas on the couch.
Prairie Home Companion, pleasant and occasionally moving, and makes you mostly weap for the lost potential that IS LiLo, but otherwise sort of classically unfocused Altman.

I think I'll have to watch Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story at least once more to fully get it, but it's hilarious, and I love it.

This weekend, we watched Talladega Nights. Had its moments of funny, though these were largely in the outtakes/extras.

Ohhh, but -- the ending! It makes it all worthwhile!

That's exactly why I can't bring myself to watch it yet. I read about global warming almost every day. I feel like if I watch more than an hour of it about how we're all doomed, I'll never get out of bed.

Step Up! Step Up! ZOMG LOVE. I finally get the Channing Tatum Channing thing now. He moves so...asfjisogj.

Mysterious Skin is not the movie to watch if you want to feel like all is good in the world.
Half the time I couldn't bring myself to watch the screen.

Channing Tatum Channing, heeeee.
I'm a little confused because I didn't think he danced at all before this movie, but he's... pretty damn good at it. On the She's the Man (LOVE!) commentary, he keeps referring to Robert Hoffman as "dancer boy," so... *shrug*
But, on the topic of Step Up, I so think Jenna Dewan's part could've been cast better, but I loved the movie anyway, especially the scene in the club where Drew Sidora and Mario are performing and everyone's spontaneously doing awesome dancing. SO GOOD -- SHIVERY good, even.

Hee, that is totally my new name for him.
Yeah, he...dancing...moving...rawrggh. Hotness.
Dammit! She's The Man was the other movie I wanted to rent last night, but I couldn't remember it once I got to the store (story of my life). Stupid brain. I could have had a Channing Tatum Channing-filled evening.
Yeah, Jenna Dewan was a fantastic dancer, but left a lot to be desired in the acting bits. And, because I'm a horrible person, I don't think she's all that pretty.
Drew Sidora is gorgeous, though, and kai, I freaking loved that scene. Loved loved loved.
