Thats completely what happened. Say whatever else you want about them Broderick and Lane are great theatre performers and the combination of them is like the theatre worlds version of Will Smith.

I also think that was the thinking behind Rent. You got almost all of the original cast together, as a nice lookback to what was a great production, but a meh movie. I blame that on the director. They should have let Spike Lee do his version of it.

But at the same time it kinda takes the shine off of two really great, iconic shows that really did change a lot of things about musicals. Which is sad.

I watched The Devil Wears Prada, and liked it a lot. Meryl Streep was very good, nuanced. I didn't like the ending too much - would have prefered Andy to have continued her career there, but that would have been a departure from the core of her character. So all in all, very good movie w/ an ending that made sense.

I watched Dirty Dancing (on tv) and I have no idea why I was crying so much! It must be that time of the month...

My aunt brought over Freedom Writers, and my mom's a sucker for that kinda thing and it's Mother's Day, so we watched that. It was OK -- the script wasn't too insulting, >>although it gets a little too cutesy at the end for my taste.<<

Point Break: I had to see this after it was referenced in Hot Fuzz. It was pretty ridiculous, but in a hilarious way. I can't believe that they cast Keanu Reeves of all people as an FBI special agent.

Brazil: I've wanted to see this for a while since pictures for it are always used for Invisibles on FilmWise. It was visually stunning, and the story was interesting, but I think I need to read a synopsis to fully wrap my brain around what I saw.

That's an EFF-BEE-EYE agent!

A buddy of mine is part of the bank robbery squad in the FBI, I got him PB as a gift. We quote lines from it all the time.

Patrick Swayze also plays a man whos wise but crooked, and Gary Busey is the put together cop who's the moral compass. It's so miscast all-around it goes back to being well-cast.

Hollywood had some beer goggles on with Lori Petty

"Johnny Utah" is probably the best totally-fake-tough-cop name ever.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which was as silly as expected - some very good throwaway lines, though.

The Mask of Zorro. I enjoyed this a lot more than I originally thought I would. And Antonio just keeps surprising me; I used to think he was just some pretty boy actor who didn't really have any talent per se. But everytime I see him in something else, it reminds me that my perceptions of him are wrong. I think I first started to realize he had something going on while watching the extras on Shrek 2, where he's in the voice booth doing his recording, completely animated, in the moment.

I do think he should be in a film with Orlando, though. They could totally pass for brothers.

Skyblade- 05-14-2007
At least until they started talking.

Orlando could pick up a Spanish accent I bet.

At the very least it'll be a hilarious comedy if he goes awry. And in that vein:

The Mambo Kings: Antonio Banderas learned his lines phonetically! And still was really, really good...thats awesome.

Frankly, I'm not even 100% sure he has a convincing English one.

Hey, if Jean-Claude Van Damme could pull off twin brothers who were separated at birth, then Orli and Tony can sell it.

I just got finished watching Rebecca. Bleh. Hated it. I loathed every character in that film, it was about 40 minutes longer than it needed to be, and it was boring as hell.
