Bolt was incredible. He got a bad start, danced over the line sideways after relaxing with about 20 metres to go and yet he still beat the world record! He knows he can run faster, he's going to tease us with what he can actually do and I can't wait to see it.

Really happy for Federer and Wawrinka, they were so cute when they won and on the podium.

And I thought we handed Spain a buttwhippin' in 1898.

Not only was I happy for Fed, I was happy that he did at the expense of the Bryans. God I hate them.

Djokovic took the bronze. I know a lot of people hate him, but I love him and I was really happy for him. He looked ecstatic.

It's amusing me to no end that there's an Italian soccer player named Acquafresca.

Suddenly, I'm thirsty. There's an (amazing) Chinese trampolinist named Dong Dong.

I admit that I'm afraid of heights, but trampoline looks hella scary.

Bolt was amazing.

I am VERY happy: today was NZ's most successful day in its 100 years of Olympic participation. Two golds, one silver and two bronzes. Get in there, Kiwis!

And Canada rocked today!.

kindred- 08-16-2008
Excellent! It sounds like Canada and NZ have had similar Olympics so far - lots of fourth places and such. Good to see them both doing well now!

Don't suppose anyone watched the Belgium-Italy soccer game. Pretty fun. Belgium lost a player to a red card in the opening 20 minutes, and still won 3-2. And Italy's goal keeper got red carded for pushing down the striker who scored the third goal.

I can't believe that was expected, since these are their under 23 squads, and you never hear about the Belgium national squad. I'm thrilled for them, mostly because I have an irrational hatred of the all Italian national football teams.

Aw, you're a good sport, Milorad Cavic.

Success!!!

I did it!!! I won an Olympic medal everybody! I’m sorry to brag, but I’m sure you all will forgive me just this one time!

On winning a SILVER medal: I am completely happy, and still in complete disbelief that I was able to achieve this feat! I’m not joking… It’s a tough loss, but I’m on cloud nine. I congratulated Phelps and his coach Bob Bowman. I’m just glad the race was fun to watch for everyone. It was a pleasure for me, really.

I’ve accepted defeat, and there’s nothing wrong with losing to the grea-*test*-('") swimmer there has ever been.

We were having lunch a little bit ago in a local pub, and watching some of the crew events. That's when I discovered my favorite name of the games so far: Nathan Twaddle.

Watched the USA vs. Taiwan softball game last night. Holy crap, the U.S. is badass.

I was pleased for the sprinter from Trinidad and Tobago who came in second. He looked so happy!

I just saw him being interviewed, The Glen, and he was just so happy that it was adorable.

Bolt is incredible. I can't believe he won so easily basically clowning around during the last 20 metres or so. Amazing.

The women's marathon just started and I just hope that this time round it's less traumatic for Paula Radcliffe.

I may have welled up a little during the medal ceremony for the wrestling match. Yay, Canada!

Go NZ and Canada!

I think it was particularly lovely of the Sydney Morning Herald to use this photo of Jared Tallent coming a surprise third in the walking. He can cherish that one in his newspaper clippings forever, can't he?

Also, why did some of the runners wear sunglasses while sprinting? Wouldn't they fall off?
