The Olympics were pretty random for Tennis in 2004 too. Good for Elena though. Maybe she'll get the gold this year.
The best part of the James Blake/Roger Federer match was when Federer refused to serve until some idiot in the audience stopped taking flash photography that was throwing James Blake off his game.
The whole arena booed the flash-happy audience member.
Is it wrong that I want Ryan Lochte or Ian Crocker to best Phelps in one of these last two events? I think there would still be plenty of glory for Phelps, but it would make things SO much more interesting.
But imagine the hassle those guys would get if they did that; inane reporters and members of the public asking for all eternity, "why didn't you let him win?"
I wouldn't mind Phelps getting beaten either. I think the way the media has ignored his teammates (let alone other nation's swimmers) is disgusting. He seems like a good guy, but his poor teammates aren't getting any glory.

Anyone who'd say such a thing deserves a good smack. I was bothered enough by that interview with Lezak that was like, "did you swim so hard in the relay to keep Michael Phelps' streak alive?!?" Thankfully, Lezak said that wasn't his number one concern.
Ryan Lochte would at least give a good Matthew McConahayyyyyy-esque answer. Like "Well, I was just paddling along, feeling the water and the waves and I felt like a fish that was a comet and the earth curved for me, shuffling me faster along the surface until I was done. Phelps is my bro and we were all tribal and jamming in the water. Yeah."
Awww, I want Phelps to win. He's like a force of nature.
That video was awesome! I am now aware of an award known as "the golden goggle."
Seven golds and one silver is still an amazing accomplishment! Go Lochte!

That's not Phelps' fault though...
I want Phelps to win. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. Plus I don't want to see Andrea Joyce ask him about his "disappointing" Olympics if he wins "only" seven golds.
Women's individual all around tonight. I would love to see Nastia Liukin win this competition. I think she's such a beautiful, graceful gymnast. Part of it is probably because she's taller than most of the other girls, and I think that creates prettier lines for her form.

| It pales in comparison to the weightlifter's break, but man, Hiroyuki Tomita's fall from the rings, spinning around and around to crash on his side on the mats, was scary to watch. |
Yeah - that was playing on a giant tv screen at the pub I was at last night, and everyone in the room sort of went quiet when it happened. I don't think he was hurt or anything, but I felt so bad for him.
It turned out they were playing a series of clips of people screwing up, including a Bolivian weightlifter who kept losing his grip on the bar, got disqualified, and was crying off stage. I think we bailed before they showed the Hungarian armbending in all its glory.

| Ah, I see you've watched this video. |
I'd say he was smoking up, but they drug -*test*-('") and also he wins stuff. I guess he's just high on life.
