If I go on a murderous rapage soon, I'm going to blame Fall Out Boy.

A murderous rapage?? Oh... oh dear.

Don't forget to pillage!!

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have THE FACTS OF LIFE!

isiscloud- 01-30-2007
If that gets in my head, keenai, I'll know where to look! And it won't be pretty, oh so pretty...Yikes.

What do you do to get it out? I've found that if you listen to the song it'll leave, but I don't have Whiskey Bar to listen to, thank goodness! I hate that song.

In ballet, each piece of music is played twice - once for the left - once for the right, and there have been times when the ballet music is stuck in my head and it doesn't go away.

So. having listened to the High School Musical soundtrack on a continuous loop for the past 24 hours, I'm finding Get'cha Head In The Game the most addictive. Of course the entire album is like chocolate coated crack, so that's not really saying much.

whatthedeuce- 01-30-2007
I always thought that songs that get stuck in your head are what we labeled "stupidcracktastic." Anyway, that fuckin' Dropkick Murphys song Shipping Up to Boston on The Departed soundtrack was stuck in my head after I saw the movie and hearing it at all the awards shows lately has gotten it re-stuck.

Kiran- 01-30-2007
Me too! I even put it on my mp3 player. I kinda want the Departed to win everything just so that can be played at the Oscars (and great movie and all).

I think it's imagining boys thrusting while singing it. Which is so dirty and wrong, but I think you know what I mean. It's my favorite dance move!

Man, that was an embarassing typo.

Having Shipping Up to Boston stuck in my head would be pretty awesome. I would totally support it winning, for that fantastic song.

Oh, and I think I spent half my childhood with that "Lord of the Dance" hymn stuck in my head.

penny dreadful- 01-30-2007
A few days ago it was "Wuthering Heights" but that seems to be gone now. It's like the hiccups, you never notice when it goes away.

whatthedeuce- 01-30-2007
I knew I couldn't be the only one who thinks Shipping Up to Boston is fuckin' awesome! I've been lucky enough to switch it off for classes, but it's back in full force right after.

Muse's Starlight has been stuck in my brain since I first heard it last November. Unfortunately, it's the only song off their la-*test*-('") album that I like. It's a gorgeous song.

komalow- 01-30-2007
"Wish you would step back from that ledge, my friend/ you could cut ties with all the lies that youuuuu've been living in/ A-and, if you do not want to see me again/ I would understa-a-a-a-a-and/ I would understa-a-a-a-a-and."

Once a month or so, that song gets stuch in my head for hours. Same with "Ever Fallen in Love?" by the Buzzcocks. Thankfully I love both songs.

whatthedeuce- 01-30-2007
komalow, I used to love that Third Eye Blind song, but I hate so much now. I just heard it way too much back in the day and can't stand it anymore. I was so surprised to find that an old friend of mine, who's now a Marine and whom I found on MySpace, loves that band. I've never met a guy who even admits to liking that group, much less claiming to love them.

REACH UP FOR THE SUNRISE!

Oh, Duran Duran, why must you torture me so?

a hymn that goes "Dance, dance, wherever you may be/ for I am the lord of the dance said he/ I will lead you all / wherever you may be / I will lead you all / in the dance said he." I haven't heard the song in at least eight years.

Oh boy, "Lord of the Dance." That one's a bad earworm, because it's sung to the tune of "Simple Gifts" which always gets into my head. Actually, hymns in general are big earworms for me. I remember one week where I could not get "The King of Glory" out of my head--it was just there on continuous play. (That's the one that Stephen Colbert does the dance to, for those of you in the Colbert Nation). Also bad is the Celtic Alleluia (I think it's the Celtic one, anyway) and the verse that often goes along with it, "Now He is living the Christ. . ." That one's just always in the back of my head. Twelve years of Catholic school will do that, I guess.

For the past month or so, I've had the trumpety part of "All You Need Is Love" in my head. Not the "La Marseillaise" solo, but the "DA da-da-da dum" part of the refrain. Wait, is that a trumpet? Maybe it's a trombone? Either way, for a week those five notes were driving me insane. I found myself doing stuff with that melody as a soundtrack. Like, I'd be typing and then I'd find myself hitting the keys to that rhythm. This is all probably a mark of deep-seated insanity.

Wow, I love that song. I grabbed that thing off itunes and put it squarely on one of my power walk playlists after I heard it.

It's catchy, though. Apparently overly so!
