Thank you so much, Gillian! So basically, Babe still sucks, Ryan still sucks, Erica still sucks, Kendall still rocks (sniff! No more Kenlee!), the freaking Josh thing tops the list of stupidest retcons ever, and Tad sucks again. Is Julia being played by the original actress? Is Chesty LaRue still around? And why the FUCK are they doing a Who's Your Daddy storyline with Krystal of all people? I fucking hate that bitch.

Kiran- 01-03-2007
Nah. Chesty LaRue took off, after Edmund got killed.

And yeah Sydney Penny is still playing Julia, and shes doing a fine job, with the character, imo.

And Jonathan is living in the house of the man who he murdered. That never ceases to disgust me. I used to love Edmund, and while his character was ruined he deserved more than getting killed off by a fucking Lavery who was then propped for days on end.

molliewollie- 01-03-2007
I always thought Sydney Penny was one of the most beautiful women I'd ever seen, so I'm glad they could get her back for the return of Julia.

Wait, fucking JONATHAN is still on the show? Why can't he and Babe get together for the ultimate in suck?

Oh, now, let's be fair to poor Jonathan. There was a brain tumor making him evil at the time. Now that the tumor is gone, he's totally a good guy.

Yes, I also hate what they did to Edmund. He used to be one of my favorite characters. Remember when he and Tad had to dress up in drag for some reason? I don't even remember the plot behind it, but it was really hilarious. Way better than Zarf/Zoe.

And getting back to the stupid Jonathan storyline, I can't stand how he's all distraught over Erin's death. I'm like, "Dude, I don't remember you being this broken up after you killed your brother Braden and then strapped dynamite to his corpse and tried to blow up your sister-in-law and her friends." But then again, I'm bitter about Braden's death because I loved Braden. He was the best bad actor that show ever had.

The one I can't believe is still on the show is Del. He's boring, he's useless, he's a bad actor, and he's not even attractive. They could have gotten rid of him and...let's say Amanda, and kept Brooke around. Brooke could have hooked up with Jeff, ending the stupid Jeff/Jack/Erica triangle, and possibly restarting the Erica/Brooke feud. Oh, and they can get rid of Sean (whose name is actually Matthew, and I don't know why they're calling him Sean) and annoying Colby while they're at it.

Gillian- 01-03-2007
There was a time when I was CONVINCED that Del was going to be the culprit in the Madden burial. He was the perfect character for that. He's connected to the search for Kate through Dixie, and no one would miss him if he were shipped off to prison. It was the perfect opportunity to get rid of an unnecessary cast member. However, I have this weird sort of affection for Del. He's completely useless, he's dumb as a box of rocks, and if they ever did get rid of him, it would take me weeks to notice he was even gone. That being said, I kind of like him anyway. He's just so blissfully doofy. It's kind of nice to have a guy on this show who isn't a criminal/abuser with either a God complex or Deep Issues.

Kiran- 01-03-2007
Thats how I feel too. He seem vaguely normal and not all fucked up, so why the hell not.

Remember Old School Edmund? The tortured writer who was the abused illegitmate son of royalty? Who could be awesomely funny? Who was a great dad who actually mourned his dead wife? His friendship with Phoebe?

The return of Chesty LaRue turned out to be bad for his character because they went with Aiden and Maria and to prop them totally ruined Edmund, but I still didnt want to see him go out that way. And let me tell you when Sam had a gun on Jonathan and was sobbing about how his dad deserved more I was right there with him.

I like Colby and Sean simply because they make sense to me re: their positions on Babe and Jeff respectivly. That being said, damn do I wish Reggie was still in the Sean role (seriously, I cared about him), and Colby was played by a better actress.

I could be mistaken, but I think that was for a Fan February episode, which are always gold. My favorite was the one with Erica marrying Tad and Bianca as the "bad" daughter while Kendall was the "good" one. Bitchy, possibly drunk Bianca making fun of Erica's hair was priceless.

I actually watched today, and Zarf? Oof. If this is what poor Bianca gets these days, I say bring back Maggie, bland and dumb as she is.

Kiran- 01-03-2007
I think they had to undercover on behalf of Brooke...for some reason. It was fun though. Remember when he was Eduardo, Phoebe's gigilo? That was cute.

And I loved that ep too. All the women sleeping with Tad who was marrying Erica (I am always surprised to remember they've never actually hooked up), Erica and Joe's lovechild? And Bianca was totally drunk. It was hysterical.

You know Kelli O'Hara is pretty and talented. Why cant Binks get her instead of Zarf who follows the "Josh Madden stalking = love" book.

MegSwan- 01-03-2007
The best part of the Fan February episode was when Joe says to Erica something like, "I can't believe you're being so selfish," and she replies, "Joe, have you ever met me before?" Priceless. I wish they'd let Susan Lucci do comedy more often. She really has awesome timing.

And I remember at the time Tad had barely been on the show, so I loved every single scene of him and his hilarious theme song. "He's Tad....Tad the Cad."

They should do a fun episode at least once a year. I'd write in and request that they kill off the entire Lavery family and make Adam and Palmer move in together like the Odd Couple.

Everyone, thanks for the awesome re-caps and commentaries. I sometimes have AMC turned on but either I'm not paying attention or have no idea what's going on.

Josh is a Kane in that he is Erica Kane's aborted fetus from back in the 70s.

What? What? WHat? A fetus? An aborted fetus? How is that possible?

End of questioning. I can continue barely paying attenting to this soap.

Gillian- 01-04-2007
I can't get over the aborted fetus thing, either. I must admit, I thought it was hilariously awesome when I started watching the show again back in May. I have almost no standards, people. I'm telling you. Between a living, breathing aborted fetus and Kendall's coma voiceovers, AMC was entertaining the hell out of me for a week or two. I used to watch Passions for shit like that. My attitude changed once I realized how much Josh sucks, though. His eyebrow frightens me, the Babe love is truly appalling, and he is so not worthy of the Kinks sibling love. He's a gigantic ass. Plus, his existence facilitated the appearance of this version of Jeff Martin, which, no thank you. Fetus must die. And he must take Babe with him. Gooooo, Serial Killer! Strike!

Way back in the early 70's, when abortion became legal, Erica Kane Martin, then married to Jeff Martin, found herself pregnant. Fearing that it would ruin her modeling career, she had an abortion, and never told Jeff about it. (He may have found out later, I don't know. I know all the backstory from my mom).

Fast forward to last year. Dr. Greg Madden, fertility genius extrodinaire, had arrived in town with his son Josh, who at first worked as a producer for Erica's TV show. Greg Madden had a Mysterious Secret involving Erica. He was obviously obsessed with her. We also found out that Josh was some sort of "miracle baby," as his parents had had trouble conceiving and the amazing Dr. Madden finally had found some way to give his wife a child. Anyway, Tad Martin started investigating the creepy doctor, and at one point, he found all kinds of info and documents Madden had about the Martin family (except for Tad--he's adopted, remember). Greg also had some old picture of Erica from when she was a toddler. Erica, who all along knew she recognized Madden from somewhere, finally remembered that he was the doctor who had performed her abortion all those many years ago. Tad finally put it all together and informed Erica (in a scene that was actually pretty affecting, considering the craziness of it all) that instead of performing the abortion, Madden had taken the embryo and implanted it in his wife's womb. So therefore, Josh Madden is actually the biological son of Erica Kane and Jeff Martin.

molliewollie- 01-04-2007
That's almost plausible in soap opera terms, but I hate it because it takes away from what was a huge, groundbreaking moment in TV. It's worse than Bianca being raped by Michael Cambias.

Speaking of which, I think the last time I really enjoyed AMC was during Kendall's trial for Michael's murder. The Ryan ick aside, that was some good soapy fun, especially Greenlee ripping Kendall's dress off in court.

How is Babe part of Fusion? I just cannot get over how everyone seems to have forgotten about the baby switch thing and the fact that she kept Bianca away from her child for months. When Erica kidnapped Maria's baby all those years ago, didn't she wind up with jail time and being the town outcast for awhile? And she was Erica, Erica Kane. Why the fuck does Babe just get a pass?

MegSwan- 01-04-2007
Here's the part where I admit that I don't hate Babe. I hated her when she first came on the show, but I grew to like her when she was friends with Bianca. And I know that she was horrible to keep Miranda from Bianca, but I kind of understood it. (Again, not saying it was okay, just that I understood why she did it, even if it was for the wrong reasons). I felt really bad for her when she thought her son was dead, and I understood why she didn't want to tell JR the truth. Then when she found Little Adam and went on the run with him, I understood it because JR had turned into such a bad guy. I can't remember how she ended up not going to jail (I do remember that there was a trial--I think involving the kidnapping of Little Adam), but she totally should have done some time. Jamie, too.

I always blamed Krystal for the whole Miranda/Bess thing, because she was the one who knew it from the start and never told anyone. Again, I understand why she did it, but I hated that she did it.

So while she makes stupid decisions (forgiving JR for trying to kill her) and I'm sick of the on-again, off-again thing with JR, I don't actually hate Babe. She may drive me insane sometimes, but I still think she's okay.

Then again, I used to like Ryan, too, so it may just be a matter of time.

And no, I can't remember how Babe got involved in Fusion (maybe JR bought the shares for her during happier times?), but I have no idea why she insists on sticking around. If everyone at my job treated me like shit, I'd leave.

Kiran- 01-04-2007
Seriously, I'm team JR. He was an ass, but letting him think his kid was dead? ew.

Josh is also mean as hell to Jackson which is NOT TOLERATED.
