Oh man, that Jossip thread is awful and hilarious. I haven't checked it today, but I refreshed it like a thousand times before I finally went to bed last night. And I felt bad about it. I did. There's a lot of venom being spewed there and I feel weird taking pleasure in the misfortune of someone I've never met. But it's also hilarious as hell and Carolyn Hinsey has shown herself to be on crack more than once. That column about Jax's rape? The one about how soap vets deserve to get fired? Her obsession with Cameron Mathison, Thorsten Kaye, and kissing Brian Frons' ass? All embarrassing.

It's been years since I've seen Passions, but I'm strangely sad that it's finally gone forever. That show was fun to turn on, like, twice a year. It was so cracked-out and hilarious in very small doses. Serial Drama did a post of 25 random Passions quotes that totally made my day.

Carolyn Hinsey, whom I've always hated, has some good points about soaps. Like, Y&R's focus on the stupid magazine crap that everybody is working on that just is unrealistic and total crap not to mention BORING. Or that Erica Kane is written like a 20 year old woman. And how they bring in teens during the summer that no one knows or cares about.

I agree that she's been right on about some stuff, but then she frustrates me when she puts on obvious blinders to other big problems. Like, she'll criticize some of the mob crime and shootings on GH, then complain when the show veers away from being about Sonny and Jason. You can't have it both ways. She also resists recasts as long as possible and makes HORRID comments about anyone with an accent. Seriously, she complained about Aiden Turner for YEARS. Honey, he's not from here, and you know what? THAT'S OKAY.

Well, after getting all excited about Ron Carlivatti and Tina and Cain and Carlo, I feel like the summer stories on OLTL have kind of, well, blown. The last couple of weeks have been better though, and I am crazy in love with tiny pocket sized Olympic Gymnast looking Brody, and his psychic war wounds, and his crazy hot chemistry with criminally underused Layla.

I'm actually entertaining hopes that not only will a black character be let out of the ABCD closet, but that she's being set up for an organic and hot romance. It's a crazy fantasy I know, but I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Oh and I still can't decide if what they're doing with Todd/Marty is fucked up and gross and offensive, or fucked up and gross and riveting. Maybe I'd find it more riveting if I gave a fuck about Todd anymore, but I pretty much don't. I can't believe I typed those words, but there it is. The whole Manning clan just sucks right now, hard.

Every time I see Brody I giggle over how small he is. Hot, yes, but so very wee. Hee.


I just started rewatching OLTL because of the anniversary episode. While I enjoyed most of the 1968 romp because of all the characters playing different people, it went on way too long. I'm so happy it's over now. Who was that playing Asa the last couple of days?

I can't believe it took Todd this long to realize that there was something wrong with Jess and that she was really Tess. Everyone else who freaking lives with her and has no clue are complete morons. She's practically wearing a "Hi, I'm Tess" sign.

As stupid as it is that no one realizes she's Tess I can't believe no one realized that Nash dying might revive Tess. It's not like Nash was originally Tess' boyfriend or anything. Silly writers.

I'm wondering if they think it's not possible, since she went through that whole integration thing, so it hasn't occurred to anyone to wonder if that's what is happening. Although you'd think Viki would be on red alert.

On the All My Children front, I'm hoping that the Petey/Colby thing is awesomely soapy, with them actually falling in love, and then her finding out, and then being set up to be a long term couple with lots of Cortlandt/Chandler interaction.

This is because I love Petey (althought New Colby is still meh to me) and I need more Palmer and Opal on my screen.

Like most SLs on OLTL anymore, everyone else needs to be dumbed way down for half the plots to work. Everyone should be more aware to jessica considering how many times Viki has been "integrated" only to have over the top hammy nikki come back on the scene because she apparently is the key to any new dark secret from the past. And of course it's that time of year when Erika Slezak gets her month long vacation so Viki is always written out of the show at the worst possible time. This year it's travelling to Africa to talk about organ donation. Forget the fact she was pretty much dead a couple days before she left, she's greenlit for extensive air travel no sweat. And everything jessica is going through, yeah go ahead and leave. I've never understood why they couldn't pre-tape Viki's scenes and have her scattered here and there for a few weeks instead of having her go MIA when her family is in deep crisis.

Of course this is the same show that just got done with an over the top time travel SL. And how has it been explained? Some type of psychic dream crap. Um yeah. If I wanted to watch crap like that I would have watched Passions. And it was all to basically throw rex and gigi together and have gigi finally open her trap long enough to tell rex shane's his kid. Really writers there was no better way to write these two together?

I've been so let down by OLTL since this summer. Nearly every SL is just crap and earlier this year things looked so promising with Allison Perkins coming back with new info. on jessica/natalie to only have that SL dropped quicker then they threw her off the building to land her in a never-ending coma. Between the campy time-travel, killing nash off and tess prancing around llanview with no one noticing and let's not forget the unbelievable SL of todd and marty "bonding" while he holds his former rape victim in his house with marty not questioning anything he does since she has amnesia. And did I mention every day there are hints of a possible kiss on the horizon. WTF??? I was so over Roger Howarth has Todd by the time he permanently left the show because of all his comings and goings and constant phoning in of performances and playing Todd like a complete butt and doofus. But the one thing I did like him for was he never was going to play todd if they were going to go the romantic route with marty, even in the slighest. Way back in the day there were rumblings that's what Malone wanted to do with Todd/Marty eventually but both Roger and Susan Haskell said they would walk if they tried it. Why SH has come back to play marty again only to have marty almost falling for todd is beyond me. Different actor, marty doesn't remember todd? I don't get it but it is beyond creepy and disturbing to watch.

I've seen teeny bits of this Todd/Marty stuff, and I'm trying really hard not to be squicked because NO WAY would they go there. Right? Right??? I mean, it's not like this is All My Children. The guy writing OLTL right now is supposed to actually like soaps. He'll tease, but at the end of the day Marty will kick Todd's ass. I hope.

Oh it's getting better. Catching today's episode todd is heavily wandering into delusion land (even worse then he normally does) and is telling marty that starr is going to give her baby to him and he asked if marty would help him raise it. Aside from just WTF is with todd, him asking marty to help raise their grandchild together, even though she doesn't know it's her grandchild too, and did I mention just WTF is going on with all of this??!!!?

I read an interview with the head writer a few weeks ago, and let's just say I think he's drank the koolaid over there because it doesn't look to be getting any better. Apparently we're suppose to be riveted and enthralled at how much todd has derailed and his emotionally putting marty through the ringer again. Not completely shocked and disgusted they are even hinting at a close/romantic relationship with a rapist and the woman he brutally gang-raped. Nice big F-U to all the support the show got back in the day when they got all those accolades for being realistic and edgy when marty was gang-raped.

It's shit like this and hearing about luke and laura's history (she was apparently "seduced" before they called it full on rape) that make me wish all soaps were cancelled. Bringing people back from the dead constantly, someone always having an evil twin, yes that is entertainment and expected from soaps. Blurring the line with rape and having a romantic relationship spring from it, no matter how many years down the line, is sick, period.

Ugh so Todd almost fucked Amnesia Marty today, way to ruin one of the most powerful soap story lines in the last 20 years. I can't believe it was only three months ago I thought Ron Carlivati was worth raving about.

Brody and the potential for Brody and Layla is the only reason I'm still occasionally watching. Oh and of course any storyline involving Dorian Lord.

Re OLTL - Brody has now turned into a crazy gun totting potential mass murderer. The kind they break into shows to report about! Now he is creepy. The whole Todd thing is yucky - completely. I mean is Marty that stupid that she can't walk her ass over to a laptop and look herself up? First thing I would have done the minute I was able. If they put them together - I will toss my cookies!!

Also, where the heck is Vicki? Shouldn't she be back from saving the world? I mean she left just after her son-in-law died tragically with her daughter pregnant. Great mom!! But then, no matter how they rave about her - she has always been a bad mom. Worse mom of all time. And, I say this loving Vicki!!

I am so tired of dumb Nat and vindictive Tess and stupid, mindless Tina...oh, barf!!

Okay, writers let's put our thinking caps on and make things right.

I hardly think that's the case. He's flipped out for sure about losing Shane, and it's triggered something about what happened in the war for him, but I don't see him plotting any mass murders, just totally disconnected from reality and trying to hold on to the one piece of it that has kept him together since he got Llanview. My sympathies lie entirely with Brody.

Also he is very very hot, and compact. He's like one of those trapezoidal gymnasts.
