LOVE the return of Tina. I started watching back when it was Karen Witter and then Krista Tesreau, so I remember as being sort of airheady, but was Evans' Tina always this campy? I say it with love -- having only experienced her as Rebecca from Passions, watching her as Tina is like a delicious reincarnation of that character, although maybe slightly less crazy. So I was just wondering if her first turn as Tina was similar in tone.
Kiran- 06-13-2008
Pretty much yes. She had sex with David when she though they were siblings!
Gillian- 06-14-2008
I know she's only been back for, like, a day, but does it look like they're going to saddle poor Susan Haskell with John McBain? Because that shit just ain't right. It's bad enough she's going to be stuck in a lame-o teen pregnancy story.
big chicken- 06-14-2008
They should never have killed off the blond dude who was taking care of her. I liked him so much better than McBain, the emo king. If someone had to die, why couldn't it be him? I wonder if Todd is kidnapping her so he can help her recover and, in his mind, redeem himself to her.
Is Susan Haskell back for the long term or is this just a short term gig for her? Like Amber Tamblyn's Emily Q., I was more a fan of the actress than the character she played and Haskell doesn't seem to do much outside of OLTL beyond some guest spots now and then.

Last year right before the re-casted marty "died" she had just begun seeing John McBain. So yeah, i'm sure those waters will be -*test*-('")ed for a good 6 months before the a-holes upstairs realize yet again that Michael Easton has chemistry with NO leading lady on this show. Todd taking Marty I'm sure is to screw with John McBain just like Lee was. And of course since todd quit being a clever villian circa 2000, this plan will backfire as well with todd looking more like an a-hole doofus then ever.
While I'm excited to see some history coming back to the show (the original tina) I'm pissed that other then sarah casually saying she wished nash hadn't died, we've seen virtually nothing of anyone mourning for nash. I'm still pissed about that and hope next week we see a funeral and more of a proper goodbye. Jesus John McBain sure got a hell of a one when he "died" in his car accident a few years ago. A-hole wasn't even really dead and everyone in the whole freakin' town was mourning him. He dominated the SLs being dead just as bad as he did when he was alive.
And don't even get me going how they offed gabrielle in a bathroom stall and we got NOTHING. No funeral, hardly any tears, NOTHING.

Oh absolutely, OLTL in 80's was extremely campy, and AE as Tina was a big reason why. And even though she's campy, I think she's a pretty good actress. She's got a great touch with both comedy and melodrama, her bursting into Cord's wedding to Kate with a stolen baby, after being believed dead via an over the waterfall death is one of my all time favorite moments in OLTL history. That Kate was played by Marcia Cross only makes it better in retrospect.
Oh and they definitely should not have killed off Hunt Block as Lee Ramsey, he was great, and I was hoping he would stick around and have hate sex with Nora.
As for the returns I think they are all relatively short term and are feeding into story lines for the 40th anniversary of the show.
Kiran- 06-14-2008
I love Hunt Block, hes ALWAYS getting screwed around by soaps though.
I have to say while I HATE the pregnancy s/l Kristen Alderson has been very good lately, and Starr is slowly getting her brain back. I loved it when she pointed out to Cole that baby WOULD all be on her, even if he was an involved dad, and I loved her horrified look when Cole was all "How about Margaret for a name?!", and most of all I loved when she was all "Shut up for a minute!" when she was trying to talk to Marcie. Look into their future, much?
blixie- 06-19-2008
Yeah I'm glad Starr is getting her brain back too, and that the teens have been relegated to 2 days a week to tell their lame story.
I love David Vickers: the dog, the Buchanan, the gigolo.
"How dare you, I paid retail! With my new wifes money." "Blair wait! Would you like me to adopt you?" Hee, I could watch Blair knocking David's lights out every day. Of course David wants to take the Cramer name, because Buchanan blood be damned the Cramer Coven is totally his family. D&D need to give it up they are totally still in love with each other.
Kiran- 06-19-2008
I have to say I love David. I think my favorite of his Cramer women relationships (aside from Dorian), were his friendship/sexual tension with Kelly later on and his almost fatherly role in Adriana's life. Like when he found out she and River had sex and he was lovely about it. Things like that keep David from being a charicture imo.
I also really wish Brandon Buddy was a better actor, because while I really like Kristen Alderson in their scenes yesterday he was...not good.
Bradleigh- 06-19-2008
Brandon Buddy is not a good actor period IMHO. Kristen (starr) has been carrying him in SLs for a year and a half now. On paper the idea of cole and starr together piss me off (let's have todd who gang-raped marty's kid fall in love with starr and let's have starr get PG from it). If they casted an actor with just a hint of talent and charisma I might be feeling something more for these two then utter annoyance and stupid plot device.
blixie- 06-19-2008
Yeah whatever value that story might have is gutted by BB, especially when the other younger male character of Markko is freaking adorable and cute and talented. Ideally they would recast Cole and have the teens swap partners. Langston with Cole, and Starr with Markko.
Potentially hugely awesome spumor, that you should take with a huge grain of salt: >>Max will appear in the 40th Anniversary shows, with a very much alive Gabrielle Medina!!!!<<
I don't care HOW or WHY, but redeeming that unceremonious write out will give Ron Carlivati a free pass from me for life, if he hasn't earned it already.
Kiran- 06-19-2008
Oh that would be awesome. Although I have to say << I liked Gabby best with Bo. My Max related supercouple was Luna. I know unpopular >>.
I keep wanting Adorable Conor Paulo to show up again as Adorable Travis and steal Starr away.
big chicken- 06-20-2008
I just finished watching the Daytime Emmys and I was all WTF!!! about GH's win as Best Drama until I remember reading somewhere that OLTL had shot itself in the foot by submitting the Prom Night musical episode as one of its two hours.
ulkis- 06-20-2008
Go Jeanne Cooper! I had no idea it was her first Emmy win. (Much like Patti LuPone and the Tonys, I thought for sure she had a couple.) Everyone looked thrilled for her, which is nice, and she is one funny lady.
Geary? First of all, nice leather pants. Second well, I just hope this doesn't lead to more 'comedic' episodes.
big chicken- 06-20-2008
Please tell me KdP was forced to say that stuff about the "Real Marty Saybrooke". I adore Susan Haskell and I'm glad she's back, but this "Real" Marty Saybrooke" and "Real Greenlee" stuff turns my stomach. It's one thing for the fans to say it, but for people connected to the show to say it is just low.
