| See, I kind of love that Maxie was faking the pregnancy. First of all, I was just so damn relieved the pregnancy was fake. Secondly, I can enjoy an all-out cheesy bad girl who pulls crazy shit like faking a pregnancy and doesn't apologize for it. She might when it all comes out, but for now she's just crazy. More importantly, both she and the show know that she's crazy. I don't have half of Port Charles telling me how super and awesome and wonderful and misunderstood Maxie is. No one was preaching about what a fabulous mother she would make. Everyone called her on her skanky ways, and she embraces her own skankiness. She's not my favorite character or anything, but she at least makes me giggle. |
I so agree with this. Er, even though I don't watch GH anymore. But the same thing happened on ATWT, kind of, and I am relieved to have a "bad" character. All of the teens are all goody-goody and their issues are resolved with love and stuff. You need that troublemaker character to root for/against, you know? The dynamic works; that's why the type of character keeps coming back.

| She had an ultrasound a couple of days ago, after she fell down the stairs. It wasn't Doctor Lee; it was some extra Doctor #4 or somebody, and afterwards he was all, "I'm so sorry Maxie. We didn't hear a heartbeat." Heh. No kidding, doc. |
Ah, okay, I thought you were talking about the first ultrasound, where Doctor Lee told her she had a healthy 7 week old or something like that.

I need to vent about AMC. This whole bullshit with Julia's old friends having adopted Tad and Dixie's little lost baby girl (because I can see where this storyline is going, they have made it so obvious), and then driving to Pine Valley just in time for the holidays, only to conveniently be in a car crash is just too contrived for me. Yes, I know it's AMC, and it's not the most ridiculous story they've ever had (*cough* Josh is Erica's aborted fetus from her marriage to Jeff Martin and now he's a producer/doctor/marketing genius/Babe's savior *cough*), but I fucking hate it. I hate this whole damn storyline from start to finish. I hate Dixie for giving that kid up in the first place, because the Dixie I remember would never have done that. She would never have believed that Tad couldn't love his own child. And even if she really believed that because it was convenient for the writers, she would still have called Joe and Ruth, or Palmer, or her sister Melanie, wherever the hell she is these days. Tad may forgive Dixie, but I never will, because she gave away Tad's kid and caused this horrid storyline. And now we're supposed to believe that it's all for the best that poor little Kathy's (how convenient that her name is so close to "Kate") poor parents have to die just so Tad and Dixie can have back their little girl. What-the-fuck-ever.
And Emma is Ryan's kid? Again, how convenient (*eyeroll*).
I really wish this show would get good again. Can't they resurrect the Cortlandt/Chandler feud? Because that's where I would start in getting the show back on track.
StephenTrendy- 12-29-2006
The problem with the resolution to this Tad/Dixie storyline, is that it's almost exactly what Bo and Billie went through on Days a few years ago, including the whole "adoptive parents killed, now Loving But Wronged Birth Parents get to have the kid they thought was lost forever" shit. And *that* was much better written than this whole Tad/Dixie crap (and that's saying something, considering JER's skills as DooL's headwriter were pathetic at best). How sad for AMC that they had to rip off a show that was WORSE, only to do the storyline even more WORSE.
And they have a serial killer? Did JER get a new job as AMC's headwriter or what? All of this reeks of Days from like 2003-2005. Maybe they'll off Myrtle with a damn donut in her mouth.
Queen Esther- 12-29-2006
Hee. Speaking of Days, I'm kind of hoping the EJ / Sami thing becomes a Stefano / Marlena type running thing. Only, better, because Sami is awesome, while Marlena sucks. And while EJ may not be at Stefano's level, he has potential. Plus, he pretty.
Kiran- 12-29-2006
Plus add Lucas in there (who actually has chemistry with Sami) and you have an awesome love triangle that can go for years and actually involves three characters with believable ties (Lucas is the Soul Mate, EJ is the bad boy who gets her), and family connections. Dimera, Horton and Brady.

I've got a question for those of you still watching GH. When Anna Devane came back to Port Charles, did the show acknowledge the years she spent in Pine Valley on AMC? Or do those years not exist? I've always held the position that if it didn't happen on GH, then it's not GH canon.
I've never fogiven ABC Daytime for having Robin and Anna reunite on AMC. That's a moment that belonged to GH and to it's viewers.
Gillian- 12-30-2006
This Tad/Dixie/Kate thing is completely offensive. Am I to understand that this year's Christmas miracle is that two innocent people are killed, leaving their only daughter an orphan on Christmas Eve? I'm supposed to want this version of Dixie, who willingly gave up her child, and this version of Tad, who helped keep two babies from their parents and tortured a guy for a good portion of the summer, to get their daughter back? I'm pretty sure I was supposed to feel all warm and fuzzy watching Tad play with Kathy as Father Clarence lurked in the background and congratulated himself on a job well done. I was completely appalled. A little girl is about to lose both of her parents, the only parents she has ever known. But it's cool, because now Dixie can stop feeling guilty about being a crappy wife and mother, and Tad can stop feeling guilty about killing a man. Merry Christmas, Kathy!
I still haven't formed an opinion on this Zarf storyline beyond the fact that Zarf has got to be the stupidest name I have ever heard. I feel sorry for the actors who have to say it with a straight face. I am glad to have Eden Riegel on my screen again. Bianca has had her irritating moments since her return, but she sure is pretty. And she still has loads of chemistry with Kendall.
MegSwan- 12-30-2006
I have chosen to believe that Tad didn't actually torture and kill Greg Madden. I know that's what happened, but I am remaining in denial, since I cannot bring myself to hate Tad for any reason. I'm pissed that the writers made him the culprit, since I don't believe Tad would have done any such thing.
I'm also pissed that they had Janet kill Trevor. It's bad enough that Trevor died (for that alone I will never forgive the writers), but to have Janet be his killer? No way. Janet, crazy as she is, would never have killed Trevor. Ever.
I continue to hate Zarf. I FF through every scene he's in. HATE!

They didn't really acknowledge it, other than showing the clip of Anna and Robin reuniting in Pine Valley. But then again, they really dropped the whole ball on the Scorpio family returning to Port Charles. I mean, we haven't seen Anna since like, July and Robert was only seen recently at Luke and Laura's wedding and helping Luke rescue Skye from Alcazar.
Kiran- 12-30-2006
I was actually pissed they DIDNT aknowledge it. I loved Anna and David, and that Leora story was heartbreaking, and for Anna not to mention "Oh by the way, I got married, and you know lost a child." at all was...weird.
I'm also still pissed that Skye isnt a Chandler anymore.
big chicken- 12-30-2006
I, on the other hand, am pissed they had Anna say she'd never loved anyone like she loved David (I remember Robert) and that the Anna and Robin reunion happened on AMC. It's like Doug and Carol from ER showing up in Grey's Anatomy Seattle Grace Hospital and we find out that they now have four kids and a dog. I'm sure there are plenty of GA watchers who've watched both shows and would be thrilled, but it's a moment that belongs to ER.
That's why I hold the position that anything that happened to a GH charcter on another ABC soap isn't GH canon. In fact, this holds true for all ABC soap characters. So by AMC canon, Skye is still a Chandler. I just think of GH Skye as a character with the same name and face as the one from AMC, but it's not the same character.
In the end though, this is all the fault of those idiots in charge of ABC daytime who decided synergy was a great way to drive up ratings.

The absolute best part of ABC soaps is the characters they choose to acknowledge have a past in a town but others don't.
Like when AW got cancelled, ABC and OLTL got saddled with some of the out of work actors, including linda dano. YEARS ago she was a character on OL named Gretel, seemed pretty forgettable in the grand scheme of things..so of course she comes back to town and like one of the older characters on the show actually remember her. Years later, and all the ABC soaps, she is the actual real mother of skye chandler (quartermaine whatever).
Yet a few years after that, Jack from Days, comes on OL as a serial killer..even though YEARS ago he was another forgettable character on the show for a short time. Yet in this time warp, no one remembers him or that he has the same face or anything like that.
Oh and then we have Michael Easton's mug hogging up OLTL yet he was in Port Charles as a vampire for a few years. But even though people from OLTL have crossed over to AMC, no one seems to go to Port Charles except Linda Dano where her history is acknowledged...
Beyond stupid..ABC under Disney has become the worst of the worst.
StephenTrendy- 01-01-2007
Well, that's certainly an annoying thing that solely belongs to ABC (the whole crossover and playing 2 characters), but I think the whole "same actor, different character" thing is just one of those things about soaps that you have to take with a grain of salt. Like on Days when Josh Taylor played Roman Brady after being Chris Kositchek previously and no one noticed. Or most recently when Wayne Northrup came back as Dr. Alex North and no one even made mention that it was the original Roman Brady.
With ABC and the crossover stuff, it certainly does complicate some things, but I watch GH and if one of the characters from OLTL came to Port Charles, I might want a little background about them, but I don't need to know the litany of things that happened in Llanview. So I can forgive GH for not mentioning Anna's years in Pine Valley, because frankly, I don't care what she did on another soap, unless it pertains to what's going on in Port Charles.
Queen Esther- 01-01-2007
CBS does the crossover thing too. It's somewhat annoying, as my mom never watched B&B, so I have to try to explain the whole Sheila is a crazy bitch who hates Lauren thing to her. It doesn't help that I'm not exactly clear on the storyline myself. On the plus side, Michelle Stafford is awesome at playing crazies. (Shela had plastic surgery to look like Phyllis.)
