I just want to say that whoever put together the
Jesse and Angie Returns! promo did an excellent job. It's the best soap promo I've seen in years and such a contrast to the REAL!Greenlee promotion. I didn't watch AMC when they were on but that promo makes me want to tune in to AMC to see them for several reasons:
1) They seem so adorable together. I love the "Will you marry me, Angie?" clip. I love the clip of Angie holding their newborn son. (Debbie Morgan has the grea-*test*-('") dimples in the world.)
2) Minorities in substantial roles. Someone on TWoP put together a list of all the awards that Darnell and Debbie won and I was truly shocked that Darnell had won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor. When was the last time a minority actor or actress was nominated for a lead role on daytime? Are there even any minorities in lead roles or good supporting roles anymore? Most of the soaps just pay lip service to diversity in their cast and any minority actor or actress tends to play a minor role in major storylines or play one note characters. I always felt sorry for the actor who played GH's Taggert because he basically had one scene and most of his dialogue was a variation of "This time you're going down, Sonny." I was relieved to hear that he did a lot of theater because I was able to fanwank that he only did GH to pay the bills and build up his retirement fund.
3) Jesse died onscreen in the view of his doctor wife. If anyone was dead, Jesse was. Plus, I happen to know his spirit has visited Pine Valley since his death to counsel his friends and even to turn back time and save Tad's life. (I bet Jesse regrets doing that now considering what Tad has become.) So how are the writers going to explain Jesse's resurrection? That's a minor point though because soap viewers are rather flexible when it comes to death and as long as there's some explanation, viewers will accept it because Jesse and Angie seem to have a lot of goodwill. I hope the writers treat those characters right for their fans' sake.
