I've just booked my tickets for
Parade in September. I saw a semi-pro production at the Edinbirgh Festival a couple of years ago but I'm really excited about seeing a proper one. If anyone is going to be in London then, do book - it's the most depressing show ever but really terrific and it's bound to sell out.

I got to see the OBC of rent when I was a kid with my aunt, anyway they are awesome together, and it lead to my crush on Adam Pascal.

| You know they're doing a Spiderman musical. |
Please, please, please let the U2 part of that musical be a rumor or just let that part not pan out. I'd really prefer if they just stick with working on a new album and not doing something so hugely bizarre and embarrassing.
Broadway, Bono and Edge? Really??? Honestly, there's already enough people who think you've gone soft. Go back and spend the time making a new kickass album that shuts up all the haters. Please. I beg you.

And as huge of a Spidey fan I am, please god, let this be only a rumor.

We just got hooked up with seventh-row seats for the tour of A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. Sah-weet.

Ooh, I love that show - it's so funny.

Tony noms came out today - ha, I knew High Fidelity would get a scenery nod! Much deserved.
Can't believe Kristin Chenoweth was snubbed, and it looks like Laura Bell Bundy took her spot. I did enjoy Legally Blonde a lot but I don't know... Laura over Cheno, who by all accounts was brilliantly hilarious? Speaking of brilliantly hilarious, yay for Orfeh, who was definitely the big standout in Legally Blonde. (Along with her UPS man husband, Andy Karl.) And there was an entire number where something like 20 people are all singing whilst jumping rope, so that's kind of impressive.
I'm pretty sure the Spiderman thing is true, didn't they send out a press release about it? I know there was a huge article in some trashy NY paper about it, too. At this point, I don't really care what the source material is any more, as some of the most enjoyable shows I've been to lately are movie musicals. I know they're planning a stage adaption of Ever After at some point, too.

Because I have sad love for Ethan Hawke I was happy for him. And for Spring Awakening, and Company.
But I was sad Michael Sheen didnt get in (Leading actor is the hardest category I think though, and I think its between Langella and Schreiber) and Lea Michele, and for Kristin Chenoweth. I mean The Apple Tree got in, and by all accounts Chenoweth was the best thing about it. That being said I think that that award already has Christine Ebersole's name on it.

Oh, for sure. I don't think anyone out there thinks Christine Ebersole isn't getting that award. But I do feel somewhat bad for Kristin as she was widely considered a lock for a nom, and maybe even a threat to Christine Ebersole. Eh well, it's not like she doesn't already have a Tony.
Is it strange that Legally Blonde was nommed for Book and Score, but nothing for Best Musical?

I thought Coast of Utopia was one of the best things I've ever seen when it was in London. I'd love to see it again but it's not something that can be revived very easily. I've heard fabulous things about the John Doyle Company - really hope it comes to London. Coram Boy was fabulous too (as was Frost/Nixon). It's a good set of nominations for the supporters of subsided theatre since most of the British transfers came from the non-commercial sector.

My favorite Tony moment was a couple of years ago when Mary Louise Parker and Bill Crudup were both nominated and he showed up with Claire Danes and she with Romany Malco (she was single at the time), and everyone was waiting to see if a fight would break out. Just thought I'd share that :)
And yeah, I feel bad for Kristen, but shes awesome, and God knows shes gonna get a bunch more tonys before its all over. But yeah weird as hell since she was considered the only really threat to Ebersole. And I thought Monk's part was considered too small to get in for lead.
Legally Blonde got eh reviews, but audiences liked it so this is probably their way of rewarding it without going crazy. See Dreamgirls at the Oscars.
Brian F. O'Byrne's on a streak aint he? He got nominated back to back in 98/99, but hes been nominated every year since Frozen and that was in 2004. Good for him.
This is a kinda meh race for musicals though. Its kinda like we know whose gonna win (Company, Spring Awakening, Christine Ebersole, Raul Esparza seems to be the pattern), and its like plays is where the drama is at.

Is the album for The Boy From Oz as fun and exciting as I Go To Rio?
Kiran- 05-29-2007
..Eh. Its worth it, for the Hugh Jackman, but the show is actually really not that good, (aside from Hugh and some other performances), and it lacks the energy that you get from live clips, but its fun.
