Sherie did an interview with Broadway.com and they mentioned their relationship and she said that thats what Norbert said about them "cause hes a sick bastard."

And Adam Pascal will probably always be my Roger. I saw Rent on Broadway when he was in the role and he was my first Broadway Crush.

Gone with the Wind was a much better book than movie. As long as that horrendous sweeping music isn't used, I'm fine.

psammead- 02-26-2007
There was a short-lived Gone With the Wind musical in the West End in 1972. It's now only remembered for Noel Coward's comment on an incontinent horse and a very young Bonnie Langford (as Bonnie)

If they'd stuffed the child's head up the horse's arse, they would have solved two problems at once.

I'm currently rehearsing (amateur!) for both Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate (as Ralph the stage manager but with added 'Too Darn Hot' moments) and a George Gershwin compilation show, so my showtunes orientation is currently towards the earlier Broadway stuff. Kern and Berlin as well as the two men whose songs I'm immersed in.

When I'm listening to really up to date stuff, Jason Robert Brown (of Last Five Years) is definitely a top choice, though I'm also very fond of Adam Guettel's Myths and Hymns song cycle. And in the in-between period, Kander and Ebb can not be toppled in my estimation. Wonderful, wonderful stuff. Cabaret and Chicago are obvious favourites, but I'm also very taken with the score for Kiss of the Spider Woman, which is so incredibly sexy.

Must shut up now. I have literally hundreds of cast recordings, so could go on forever!

Has anyone seen Wicked in London since Kerry Ellis took over as Elphaba? I'm seeing the show in May (booked a Saturday night ticket for the 5th as I'm in London to do a concert at the Royal Albert Hall on the Sunday) and I'm curious about her. I thought originally she was the one who sang Somebody to Love on the We Will Rock You recording, which would have been good as I thought when I heard that song "This girl has to play Elphaba, now!" but apparently she played another part.

Adam Garcia is Fiyero - woohoo!

That's the one! I spend most of the time either being shouted for or shouting at people. Not the most tranquil bit part in the world!

Is there no end to pop/rock compilation musicals?

Esseilte- 03-14-2007
I don't understand...what is it about? Is it a Take That story or something? I haven't been paying attention to the whole comeback thing so I may be missing a reference.

psammead- 03-14-2007
It's a 'brand new British musical about love, friendship, ambition and betrayal'. With added Take That songs. Apparently it's the 'musical event of the year' (to be fair, it's more enticing than the Lord of the Rings musical).

Kiran- 03-14-2007
Dude, Lord of the Rings sucked. It was like a disco acid trip only not awesome. And they had to premiere it in Canada. Our country didnt need that! We already had the Drowsy Chaperone which turned out to be really good!

West Side Story is my favorit musical, ever. Anywhere. You should all see the embarrassing dance routine I've come up with for the Mambo part of the dance at the gym. Also love the way the voices and the music swell during the "All the world is only you and me" part of Tonight. Les Mis is a close second, and oddly enough my favorite bits in that one belong to Marius.

I used to think I had a love/hate relationship with Chess, but now I've realized it's just hate.

I saw a musical version of The Hobbit which I adored, but have never been able to get a soundtrack or even a dodgy copy. It might not actually be as good as I remembered, but I loved "The Road Goes Ever On". Damn, now I want to find that...

Saw Evil Dead: The Musical for the second time last Saturday. It's going on tour, which is good, but it means I can't see it again. Great songs, great cast, fun effects.

SSSSSSSQQQQQQQQQQQQQUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! *thud*

They may have dates at www.evildeadthemusical.com. Wish you luck!!

Check out the site for video snippets. I saw a clip of "S-Mart Employees" somewhere online from a very early performance and it was a lot rougher than the versions I saw. The cast recording is coming out in April, I think.

Songs (Not necessarily in the right order):
Cabin in the Woods
S-Mart Employees
Look Who's Evil Now
What the Fuck Was That?
Reliable Jake
All the Men in My Life Were Killed by K©andarian Demons
Bit Part Demon
Do the Necronomicon

Lord of the Rings Musical?

Oh, and I heard confirmation from John Waters himself on The Daily Show that Cry Baby is coming as a musical next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!
