When I see
this picture I wanted Jared Padalecki to quickly crush the whole cast before High School Musical 3 can be made. *g*

| Raul Esparza is awesome even if he does have an awesomely soapish romantic life with his sexual confusion and on/off again wife. Actually that adds to the awesomenish. |
Actually, that's part of what makes him hot...
Hee. Cause no matter who you are, or what sex you are, you could probably have a shot.
And Jared Padelecki could probably crush them with the palm of his hand. Damn that boy is tall. And hot.
Been listening to tick, tick...BOOM! and I really like it. Aside from my aforementioned crush, the music is pretty good. "Why?" may be one of the prettiest things I've ever heard and "Therapy" is awesomely nutty.
I saw
Bare the musical in a local production today. It's a pretty good musical, though a bit cliched. It's about two gay kids having an affair in a Catholic boarding school. The girl who played Nadia was the best I thought, and the others were good as well but undermined because they had no body mics. I couldn't make out the lyrics a lot of the time. Hopefully they can fic that somehow. So, if you're not too far from the theater, I'd recommend catching it, but if it's a long hike not to bother.
Hey, ulkis, are you in Jersey? I saw that there was production of Bare playing over in Edison.
Yup. I meant to meant to mention that it's in NJ and if one doesn't live too far they should go see it. Doh. When I was buying my ticket the guy said some people had flown in for Friday night's show, which boggled me.
You guys you guys! Mr. ka-*test*-('")i surprised me with tickets to see Spamalot tonight! EEEEE!!!
Yayayayay! One of these days I'll see it. Enjoy! Good Mr. katesi!
Oh man. Someone on broadway.com posted a link to an
Out Tonight/Another Day audio from the new London revival. I remember after I saw the movie, my sister said, "I love 'Out Tonight'. It's such so . . .
passionate." That kinda sums up the song for me. And they turned it into some weird 60s doo-wop thing. It's crazy. "Another Day" would be OK if it wasn't for the weird background singers.
Wow, words cannot express how much I hated that. I wish they would have left Rent alone.
The new London version is actually called
Rent Remixed. To make it extra cool and hip they've decided not to allocate seating (which means there are horrendous queues and, presumably, an unseemly scrimmage once the doors open).
Yeah I heard the guy doing it say "Rent was very much a show of the 1990s...we're making it a show for NOW!" and it just makes me go how? I love Rent, but its never gonna be as edgy as it was back then. Its almost a period piece. And it needs to be because a lot of things dont work when put in the context of 2007.
spidey 88, I wanted to say, I was lj hopping and saw your icons, and I love love that Gerard Butler/Lon Chaney Sr. one. 'Tis awesome.
What makes me scratch my head is how some people say, "oh well AIDS/HIV isn't a big deal now," to which I say, "OK, yeah, no big deal getting HIV," and also, that's not the point. Maybe in the 90s Larsen thought that turning tuberculosis into AIDS made it that much more modern, but the point isn't that they have HIV, the point is that they're dying, much like it doesn't matter when watching La Boheme that no one has tuberculosis anymore.

Yeah. (Also bugged when CC made the year 1989.) Why does it have to be set now? Is he gonna change it every 10 years? Really, I don't mind that he's trying to rework it. I don't mind them changing the orchestrations but changing the period, I think is kind of silly. (And I made my sister listen to the "Out Tonight," and she kinda shrugged and said that's what revivals do, change the music, so it may have worked for the people who saw the show. I still don't like it, but I'm not a big phan of saxaphones in general. And the back-up singers have GOT to go.)
Thanks, ulkis! Wish I could say that I made it, but I didn't.
I hate when people update things. These shows don't become classics without a reason and a lot of the time, it's because the show says something about the time period that it is portraying. By changing that, you are taking away so much of what makes the show make sense.
