I'm probably over stepping my bounds like CRAZY right now but here goes...

At another forum I post at (at which I post?), they have this thing called a "cbox". It's basically a little chat box/place to leave messages. It's kinda for chatting on the board, I guess.

Here's a link so you guys can just see for yourself.

The forum looks a lot like this one so I would assume it's compatible.

Anyway, I love that feature there, it's fun to leave little messages about nothing, stuff that doesn't fit in threads. I know we have a chat room (obviously) but that's only useful if you can go on when everyone else is on, which is only a couple of hours a day. This is kinda like a chat answering machine. It's kind of hard to explain the appeal...

So what do you guys think? Is it something that you (we?) might wanna try out? Should I shut up? My ideas aren't always this lame! Remember when I asked RWS if I could start a Question thread and she said it was beyond the scope of the site? That worked out, didn't it??

*runs in crazy circles*

I don't really like the idea of using the program, because we can't moderate it (not that we don't trust y'all - I'm thinking of spammers and such, and maybe the occasional ill advised comment or what have you) and it will probably slow down the loading time for everyone on the site, or block it at work if the application triggers their blocker. I also think forumer is more finicky about editing the code on the page than other hosts out there, even if they both use IPB boards.

But what we can do is start a "Chat thread" in the Community section and pin it at the top of the forum. Then people can just randomly post in there and it would be just about the same. Or is there something about the chat program I'm missing?
