I'm starting a thread on Christopher Lee. He's not dead. Just a French rock star now.

Thomasina- 01-23-2007
I was initially thinking Costume Dramas in the TV forum - for things like PBS and the BBC (and whichever Australian tv channels show such things.) But then there are all those Merchant-Ivory type movies. So maybe do two? Like - Costume Drama Films and Costume Dramas on Television.

If the mods need to delete/modify/etc, I am not offended in the sligh-*test*-('").

Gah, I can never think of anything clever to say to open a topic.

I think Carmine's idea* about a Body/Illness/Health thread is a very good one. I'd love something like that as googling symptoms or what have you can often be scary and I always wonder what's reliable and what's not. And there's a wealth of knowledge and experience on this board, so it'd be good to avail of that both for advice and venting purposes.

*Sorry Carmine, I meant to respond to this before now but only remembered it having just been in Unpopular Non-fame Opinions in the Community section.

Carmine- 01-24-2007
Since at least someone else likes the idea*, and no-one's weighed in to nix it, I'm just going to go ahead and start one - obviously delete it is you don't like it, mods!

* Thanks, leone!

No, thank you Carmine. Seriously. I've been debating mentioning something that's bothering me in the Q&Advice thread (because I still don't know how to start a thread and would no doubt screw it up massively) but I didn't want to ambush anyone with what could be kind of icky subject matter without posting a caveat.

See what I mean? Even here it's so difficult to dance around it and still come across as a coherent person that I really think a dedicated thread would be the best thing to do. That way unsuspecting SFers don't get the fright of their lives and get unintentionally reacquainted with their lunch.

You're welcome, leone! Hope that someone can help!

Would it be okay to start up a 'Childhood Memories' thread? I think there was something like it on 2.0.

I'd like to add a thread about theatre and plays, but I have no idea where to put it. I suppose music, but there are non-musical plays, heeh.

I don't know if there's enough interest in it, either, but I'd certainly like it.

I would think Literary and Multimedia would work for a live theatre thread.

Also I'm sure Childhood Memories would be fine in Community.

Ooh, I go to the theatre most weeks so I'd love a theatre thread

Is an I Love My Job community thread cool?

StephenTrendy- 03-01-2007
Go for it.

We have threads about cooking tricks and what we're cooking (in my case, not much). How about a thread for any and all cooking shows. I'm thinking everyone from Julia Child to America's Test Kitchen to the late, great John Crean, the founder of Fleetwood Motorhomes who built a kitchen tv set in his garage. The grossest recipes ever, but the recipes weren't really the point of the show.

Sounds like a great idea, Thomasina!

I just saw Chris Gardner (the guy who wrote the book The Pursuit of Happyness and who the movie is about. Anyway, I wanted to post about it, but it doesnt really fit in anywhere. I dont know if we could have a threat about meeting authors and/or celebrities or if it would be more appropriate to start a thread about his book or to just not post anything about it at all.
