Surely I am not the only one with tickets to the reunion show?
New video!. Nice try, NKOTB, but we still remember that Danny and Jon are in the group too, even if they aren't as hot as the other three. They got, like, 7 seconds max in that video!
I am embarrassingly excited about this concert. November can't come soon enough!

Joey's still fine. I kinda still worry for Donnie's legitimate acting career though.
HEE!
Jesus H. Garcia- 06-11-2008
I almost started this thread when they announced the reunion a few weeks ago, but was too embarrassed. Thanks for taking the bullet, SarahJanet!

Just like old times! I used to feel bad for Danny because he was so ugly.

I got tickets to the Houston show. They aren't great seats, but really it's just for the nostalgia factor. However I think I am more excited for NKOTB then I am for Madonna.
I feel like I'm 12 again though, I saw The Cure on Monday, going to see George Michael, NKOTB, and Madonna, and I hear that Duran Duran might be coming to Houston.

Ha! Ain't that the truth.
And I AM NOT ASHAMED of my NKOTB squee, thank you. Although it's worth noting that the only other thread in the music section I seem to have posted in is the Spice Girls one, so that says something about my musical taste. Glad to take one for the team!
Swarley- 06-11-2008
I had no interest in the MuchMusic Video Awards until I realized NKOTB would be performing. Now I will definitely be tuning in.

OH THANK HEAVENS SOMEONE STARTED THIS THREAD!
I was starting to get worried. I need to talk with snarky NKOTB fans. I've seen the official message board and other fan boards, and seriously, the grammer and some of the stuff they're saying scares me.
A lot of this is nostalgia for me. Donnie Wahlberg, Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas were responsible for kick-starting my puberty, so I gotta give them some love. Puberty. It's a helluva drug.
As for the Summertime video, I think it's alright, but it's not great. It's like any other pop video out there and I guess I was hoping for something more. That and seeing stuff like some of the production lights in the tiki club kinda annoyed me because it broke the illusion that it was a club.
So I gotta ask -- who's your favorite and why?
Jesus H. Garcia- 06-12-2008
Oh dear god -- I didn't THINK about the message boards. Yes! Crazy reading material for the weekend!
Back in the day my favorites were, in order: 1. Donnie 2. Jonathan 3. Jordan 4. Joey Joe 5. Danny. When I was 12, I thought Jordan was gay. Turns out he's not -- but Jonathan is, right? Anyway, after Jordan appeared on "Surreal Life", he slipped to #5 on my list for douchebaggery and general craziness. And I think Danny has leapfrogged up to #3, because he seems more likable now than Joe. I think Donnie is more awesome today than he ever was and I would probably cry if I met him.
cutebutpsycho- 06-12-2008
Dude, when the official forum first opened up, the nuttiness was all over the place. Catfighting over the "real" fans, rumors about Jon, dishing about Jordan's wife. It was awesome. Now the mods have stepped in, but there's still craziness. And don't get me started on the random capitalization, punctuation and overuse of smiley faces.
I swear, the Donnie fans on that forum are one step away from Snapewives. Why did I end up liking the guy with the nutter fans?
As for Donnie's acting career, I'm not too worried now. If they didn't have the reaction they have now, if the tour wound up being in the Hilton Ballroom C or if their new album tanks (which I have a feeling it might not) then I'd be worried. But the reaction is good. And I think his new movie with Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro will help keep his profile up.
Kiran- 06-12-2008
Thats good then. I do love him for agreeing to do it.
mozzarella- 06-12-2008
I think they all look great. TRUFAX!
cutebutpsycho- 06-13-2008
I just gotta add
this link. It cracks my shit up.
katesti- 06-13-2008
Hee. I don't even want to know what they're watching.
Miss Moneypenny- 06-13-2008
I have appointed myself NKOTB correspondent for the local website I work for in the faint hope that I can get a press pass for their show in the fall. I'll let y'all know.
My review of Summertime actually got linked in the official forums, and a few very polite but very odd fans came and commented on it. It was kind of adorable in a psychotic way.
And I finally get to tell my favorite New Kids story at SF! My friend Jen is related to Joe McIntyre by someone's marriage--like, they might be cousins-in-law, and back when he still lived in MA, she'd see him at family things where they were usually the only two in their age group and would end up talking.
When my friend Amanda heard this, she said, "How the hell did you make conversation? Dude, I had New Kids sheets! At some point I would have burst out with, 'I used to sleep on your face!'"
Anyway. I unironically enjoy their music, and the fact that five dudes from Dorchester and West Roxbury became international pop stars will always make me giggle.
cutebutpsycho- 06-14-2008
What did the fans say? And I read your review of Summertime via the LJ link in your profile and I thought it was great.
And given that the guys all had like eleventy-billion siblings, I'm willing to believe that most residents of Boston are related or know somehow the guys.
