It's embarrassing, but I'm feeling really overwhelmed at the moment. Grateful for this place existing, but I don't know. I'm just so glad that we're not left spiralling into the non-forum abyss.

Found my way here via Cleolinda's journal as well. After a few days of "Wha'happened??" I finally got smart enough to start looking around rather than hitting "Refresh" all the time.

Seriously, I'm a mod at another board (as is Lissa), and I can't imagine if our community was trashed like this one was. This recovery has been truly amazing, and it speaks volumes of the quality of people this place attracts. Cheers to all of us.

I gotta say that losing Snarkfest was a jolt to me ("What the hell? I have to work now?") so I give big props and mad love to the mods for getting the board up pretty fast. I also have to single out PrincessCleo and her LJ for keeping me updated.

Wow, see what happens when you dont pay attention for a few days? I was going through some serious withdrawal for a few days until I did a search on Forumer to see if you all had moved. Sigh... its nice to be home again...

Can we PM the people at the old board to let them know they should come over here? Or does that not work?

My big thanks to the hardworking mods - what an incredible effort, and over such a short time. Thank you so much. I missed the place for the 3 days or so it took me to find it.

I missed the boards sooo much! I had to see the new Bond film and witness the Britney meltdown without Snarkfest, and I thought I was going to lose it.

When I look at the member list of the old place, I see the 76 remaining members and something around 480 members with status "Validating". I think PMs would only work for the non-Validating members, but the old board offers the possibility of sending another member an e-mail. If our mods here think that would be an acceptable thing to do, maybe we could create some sort of standard mail and those of us who still have access to the old board could send it to the members of the old board (both the remaining and the Validating ones).

Actually, we can email the non-validating members. The flaw in the plan is that non-mods can only send one email through the system every 15 minutes, which is all of us now.

If we could have some volunteers, we could split up the work and get the word out to more people. Otherwise it's not terribly feasible. If anybody would like to volunteer, send me a PM. (I just tried things out, and it looks like you have to be one of the ones not deleted in order to send messages.)

could I suggest something else, too? This might be an "collecting over a period of time" kind of thing, but maybe some quotes from snarkers, like the kind of unbelievably funny stuff that ends up in Metaquotes? Or some of the more generic witticisms that have come forward, like Team Pillow, or that sort of thing?

Just a thought. And would this be a cafepress (or similar site) kind of purchase?
