Hi everyone! I missed you guys.

Thanks to the moderators for getting everything up and running again so quickly.

Quick question: Is there any way to let other former members know where we are now? I had a bit of a time locating the new site and I'd hate for other people to miss out.

The lifeforce-sucking job I started a couple months ago is so depressing that I kind of took a sabbatical from everything, more or less, for a while. Trust me when I say that I WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN. This was my hour on the internet yesterday:

Anyway, thank you guys so much for bringing SF back to life. I have every confidence that this version can melt Hugh Jackman's pants off.

We've been trying to get the word out as best we can. The problem is that we don't have access to the full member list from the old board. Even with the 76 members not yet deleted, we'd have to go through one by one, and that would still only reach a tiny portion of our 1870 former members. We also can't start threads on the old board to point people this way, since there's nowhere to start them, and none of us have the power to go in and make a place for it.

PrincessCleo has made a few posts on her blog telling people where the new site is, as did most other members whose blogs I've seen. We've also been updating the snarkfest_lj on livejournal. We just have to hope that word of mouth brings everybody back.

Would you mind telling us how you found your way back? If we know where the members who aren't keeping up with the livejournal or blogs are coming from, we can try to get the word out in those areas as well.

Although it says only 76 members on SF 2.0, there are a lot more listed because of people reregistering when the boards shut. I don't know if all of them made it over here. The good news is that if you google Snarkfest, the LJ does come up on the first page so hopefully people will continue to find us through that.

That's the most annoying thing about the whole affair - at least Wing gave a few days notice so people could set up temporary homes.

Wow. Hard to believe that in one fell social experiment swoop, someone made Wing seem.... rational. And kind, considerate and caring. Wow.

Do you think the Fug Girls would mind posting a notice on GFY? I feel really bad asking them to post something so off-topic, but they did like us enough to rec us to EW, and GFY may be the member blog that more SFers read than anything else.

(This was another reason I was starting to wonder if maybe getting on Fandom Wank wouldn't be a bad idea: at least people would hear about us moving.)

I know the displacedsnark yahoo group got a bit spammity-porny in the recent past, but that's been resolved. Do you think posting a notice there would help?

Wow, what drama. And you guys managed to plow through all of that and get the board back up and running in record time. Great job.

I think you should ban Mr. I. He's obviously asking for it. And if you ever leave the board, you have to do it kamikaze style, leaving nothing but a trail of destruction behind you. It may not be nice, but people will never ever forget you and isn't that what really matters?

Okay. I've been drowning in uni work and this is the first time I've been online. Just read Cleo's journal. Wow. What a headfuck. I realise there's nothing I can add to this discussion, so I won't. I will, however, add my voice to the chorus of praise for the admin for getting the new place running so quickly. It is really appreciated.

I'd also like to thank dinahmoe for posting at displacedsnark for me. In fact, that's where I found out about this place myself. I've locked membership and posting priviliges for the past few months due to exteme pornogrification, but I'm off to make sure that the posts themselves are public, so that any lost, non-member snarkers can read them. Also update links. Hooray.
