Metaquotes again!

As before, here are the rules:Rules generally stolen from the Metaquotes livejournal community.

molliewollie- 11-29-2006
This whole mess has been more than worth it for the return of Tsathoggua alone. Every post is a gem, but I'd like to single out this one as the grea-*test*-('") post in the history of any message board ever:

QUOTE

Is like asking K-Fed to protect you from bad rap songs.

Putli Bai- 11-29-2006
As I was driving home from my writer's group meeting last night, I found myself giggling about the exchange that was going on in the Keira Knightly thread. Various Snarkers had discussed the possibility of shipping Keira and Orlando, which devolved into speculation on the status of her relationship with Rupert Friend, and whether or not Orlando could take him.

I'm pretty sure it was MrI who knocked it out of the park with something like:

QUOTE
Now there's a slapfight you could sell tickets to.

Gwynevere1- 11-29-2006
Snarryfan in the Jesus Christ thread:
QUOTE
QUOTE
Come on, the man's a superstar

And yet, I don't know how to love him.

mrinsouciance- 11-29-2006
Yes, Putli, that was my adorable self. I couldn't really envision any other type of fight for Knightly's hand.

Pumpkin Cake- 11-30-2006
I swear I'm going to be better about this, this time.

Dane in Stars I Hate:

QUOTE
Oh man, Green Card. Sweet God, as if the writing and "plot" weren't bad enough, there is no quarter. When the camera finally does pull itself away from McDowell, and she finally shuts up, then it goes straight to Gerard Depardieu. It's a litany of horrors.

Dane- 11-30-2006
My very first metaquote! Punkin Cake, I adore you.

I get the impression Tsathoggua going to be quoted quite a lot. Here the Wise One explains how to ensure that my my profession is taken seriously
QUOTE
People do not respect keepers of knowledge like in Tsathy's day. Is v. sad. If confronted by illiterate goons who think librarians are all like stupid simpering girl in The Music Man, best bet is to tell them of history of librarians. Speak of guardians of sacred texts in ancient Babylonian city of Kul, whose rites kept forces of oblivion from seeping out into world. Talk of librarians of Alexandria, who maintained all knowledge of civilization on many shelves of scrolls before burning of building. Teach of monks of Europe, who carefully transcribed texts of many cultures, spreading knowledge throughout land, helping to build what is seen today as Western Civilization.

Then, when they fall asleep listening, place hand in bowl of warm water. V. hilarious results.

I was just coming here to rave about the Toad God. I am at WORK, Tsathy, I cannot be laughing like this!

dinahmoe has scarf issues:

QUOTE
I just rolled over the end of the damn thing with my chair. It would be just like me to die in some sort of Isadora-Duncan-Meets-Office-Space scenario.

Skyblade has a point about the safety of cars modelled after curvy Brittish actresses :
QUOTE
Just because Winslet's a much more realistic body image for society, doesn't mean her physique is okay to travel in.

Note that I personnaly wouldn't mind travelling inside Kate Winslet's body (and I' m a straight girl for god's sake).

Poubelle- 12-01-2006
La G, while asking the Toad God a question, comes up with this gem:
QUOTE
A fool once said money doesn't buy you happiness but I'm sure he was a bank manager refusing someone's loan.

PrincessCleo- 12-02-2006
Binky on the poisoned Russian spy news story:

QUOTE
I know this story is serious, but all I can think of is a Jason Bourne-type character, somewhere in Europe, in deep, deep crap for having his mission end up on CNN/BBC.

I wouldn't mind either. But I find it interesting that she thinks the headlights are too small. Personally, I think the headlights are fine the way they are.

Poubelle explains why he/she(?) hates Gwen Stefani and Fergie:
QUOTE
I like to think that Gwen and Fergie are in a competition to see who could make the stupidest crackmusic that people would still actually buy/listen to--and neither of them has gotten to the breaking point in this competition yet. So they're still one-upping each other--("I'll see your Hollaback Girl and raise you a London Bridge!" "I'll see your London Bridge and raise you some yodeling!" "No way, bitch, yodeling will never stop the Dutchess--I AM FERGILICIOUS, SO DELICIOUS, DAMMIT!!")
