oxymoron in the Spelling and Grammar thread:

QUOTE (MidgeWood @ June 12, 2007 08:32 am)
like the sign asking cashiers to please "stalk" the paper up front when they are not busy

I love this one. Just imagine you're in one of those wildlife docs.

Narrator: We're sending Jim in to see what the herd of paper up front is doing
Jim: Ahhh. it's a stampede! I have paper cuts!

whatthedeuce- 06-12-2007
The idea of "stalking" paper is really quite adorable. I'm an idiot though and accidentally envisioned it the other way around when I read Midgewood's original post. Paper stalking people is much cuter the way I imagine it.

Skyblade, the Movies in Pre-Production thread, foresees a potential example of "turnabout is fair play":

QUOTE
It seems The Lovely Bones has it first cast member; Rachel Weisz. It was almost a Fountain reunion, but Hugh Jackman had to turn it down because he's too busy filming Australia. Watch as Dougray Scott ends up being cast and becomes a world reknown screen idol because of it.

oxymoron- 06-13-2007
Aww...thanks slamder. I envisioned the whole thing as a Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom-type thing.

In the Godfather thread, lifeguard responds to a question posed by Skyblade:

QUOTE
Was the ascendence to Godfather too quickly for young Michael that he often resorted to whacking as the easy way out?

It's a question many fathers ask about their sons. Usually after walking in on them when Baywatch is on.

dinahmoe sums it up in the For Better or Worse thread:

QUOTE
I fucking hate these imaginary people.

Kiran shares an amazing experience in the Movie Theatre Etiquette

QUOTE
However, sometimes I enjoy crowd participation. Like when me and my friends went to see "Dreamgirl". My faves?
Urkel!!!", "....Shes pregant, Jamie!", "Damn...I feel like Danny Glover should be more of a presence.", "Eddie Murphy is stepping out on Jaleesa?!", and my favorite of them all? A dude who had clearly been dragged by his girlfriend completely perked up and went "Yo, you never told me John Lithgow was in this."

We ought to thank that anonymous guy in the movie theatre who gave us that last line.

Then again, if you're Hans Zimmer, then your middle name is pretty much "Epic and Bombastic."

Hee. It's funny 'cause it's true.

I tried Kitty Walks With a Leash once, too. It turned into the Dead Cat's Drag.

Pumpkin Cake's response to trying to put a cat on a leash.

Kiran- 06-20-2007
Seriously, anonymous guy officially became my fave person ever after that. Also he was totally a white wannabe homeboy which just added to the hilarity.

whatthedeuce- 06-20-2007
Congrats, Kir! And many thanks to that mysterious man who has spread the joy of John Lithgow throughout SF today!

In chat:

QUOTE
Cynara: okay, this fanfic [on GAFF] is described as "Little Mermaid' incest with spaceships and katanas"

Skyblade:: Isn't that exactly what Star Wars is?

Skyblade, on how The Pacifier sucks so badly despite Vin Diesel fighting ninjas:

QUOTE
That's like running down the stair on Christmas morning and the tree eating you...for a paycheck.

dinahmoe, again in the FBoFW thread:

QUOTE
All this storyline needs to redeem it is a bucket of pig's blood and some telekinesis. It would be so simple.

Gold.

Even on Access Hollywood a couple weeks ago they were taking shots at CNN/MSNBC for covering it.   They said something like....well, we had X minutes of Paris coverage, but hey, that's what we do.   CNN had X minutes of Paris coverage and they are fucking CNN.

It is a sad thing when Access Hollywood has the moral high ground.

I think that's my new sig.
