No, of course not. The issue was one of potential, rather than realization. Remember, Jodie Foster started out making silly movies too (including a number of after-school specials and, oh yeah, Freaky Friday). It was less that LL's movies were so brilliant than she was just brimming with SO many possibilities. A lot of us were just waiting for her Taxi Driver to come along, and then she'd be on her way.

Then she cut a pop album. And started courting the paparazzi. And was boozing and drugging and having cheap toilet-stall sex with skeezy Eurotrash. And her movies suddenly got really shitty. And they were clearly all star vehicles for her, which meant she was choosing ego-boosting self-gratification over substantive roles. And then she tried to right the ship by making token appearances in art house piffle like Bobby and PHC. And in the middle of it all, the train left the tracks, and now here we are.

Somewhere amid the smoldering wreckage, some of us can still see the mangled remains of the Oscar-winner-to-be in there. The one who let fame and entitlement and fucked-up parents get in the way of what she could have been. And there is no rescuing that corpse because it's in, like, thirty pieces and they're all on fire. And that makes us sad.

OK, this is sick and I know Dina is behind it: Ali Lohan sent an email to VH-1 defending her mom and trashing her dad.

That child is doomed already.

And she needs a better education than the one she's getting right now, if the spelling is anything to go by.

Are Lindsay's "insiders" crazy or do they just not have any grasp of how the general public is reacting to this entire situation? If they want to save what's left of the Lindsays pitiful career (oh and that little thing called her life) they will shut up, get her into rehab, accept whatever punishment for the DUIs, and just force the entire family to lay low for awhile, like a year or more. The more they talk, the more excuses they give the media, the more angry letters tapped out on a Blackberry, it just makes the whole situation worse. Accept some goddamn responsibility and get the Lohan house in order.

But of course, this will not happen because they are a bunch of narcissistic famewhores and we will be subjected to this nonsense for the rest of the summer.

Seriously. Dina has to have disregarded all PR advice because this is the absolute worst route they could've taken. If they'd owned up to how badly Lindsay's fucked up, they could've won public sympathy. As it is, they've made her a punchline and solidified the public's desire to see her ass thrown in jail.

If she doesn't see that she has a problem, then I don't think forcing her to go to rehab would really do any good. Though I do think they should at least give the appearance of trying and stop with the fucking victim mentality.

I agree that the absence of a father can mess with a girl's head-hell, I know how hard it can be firsthand-but there comes a time when you must stop blaming your parents for your own shitty choices. Yes, Lindsay's dad is an asshole, but he didn't hold a gun to her head and make her snort coke or get a string of DUI's. The fact that the Lohans are placing all the blame on him is really pissing me off, and its not going to accomplish anything. Not that I think Dina gives a crap about Lindsay's well-being in the first place; she just wants her little cash cow to get back into fighting shape so she can get into the clubs again. This family is so fucked.

Oh, shut up, Dina. I'm "disappointed in the path" Lindsay chose in deciding to endanger the lives of anyone on the streets of L.A. on Tuesday morning. Between her and Leno, I'll take his version of being disrespectful.

Man, she just knows how to dig the hole deeper and deeper, doesn't she?

The only think offensive about Leno is how horribly unfunny he is.

I think the Rob Schneider impersonation of Blowhan should be the least of Dina's worries right now.

You think it would be, but Dina cares what everyone else thinks. She can bitch about the media all she wants, but the fact of the matter is she's always courted the attention. And wasn't she the one who told Lindsay that even bad press is better than none at all?
