What an idiot. How is it that so many people are still giving this moron a free pass in Hollywood?
Roma79- 05-27-2007
That attitude has been thrust on young Hollywood a lot lately, which is why I'm still shocked that Paris Hilton will serve jail time for what she did. A lot of people are convinced that these women in their twenties are still children, and must be taken care of, when in reality they should be able to do it themselves. I'm 25, and no one would have sympathy for me if I got a DUI. With Paris, Britney, and Lindsay it's a very different story, which is ridiculous.
Topic? Lindsay is looking mighty scary these days, like a puffy-faced dude. Just thought I'd share.

| The sad or rather scary thing is I'm not sure this is going to be a wake-up call to her. Would she just get a slap on the wrist since it's her first DUI or would the sentencing be more harsh since she's underage and supposedly carrying drugs? |
Well, I think most people (with a good lawyer) would probably get off with probation and a suspended license for a first offense. Kinda sad, but true. She would just have to take a lesson from Paris and not drive while having the suspended license.

Has anyone else seen the
video of her actually fleeing the scene? The video is long because apprently the paps had been follwing her all night. I especially loved the part when she threw a glass bottle at them. Isn't she the same one that is scared they won't want to photograph her anymore?? What a dumbass. And they are saying she had Samantha Ronson and another person in a two seater Benz.
And her sponors are pulling out of her birthday party.

What ticks me off is she's still been getting movie roles up until this point. It's like she's out on the road, could perfectly well kill someone but no, we'll give her one more chance and let her star opposite merryl streep or something. She's not a bad actress but certaingly nothing spectacular IMHO. To me she's average on everything, singing, acting and looks.

I wonder the same thing as well!???!!!! I thouhgt after her public scolding last year by the producer of Georgia Rule she wouldn't get anymore work, but they keep hiring her asss. And i don't think she is that special but i just re watched Mean Girls yesterday and it is sad to see her go from that to this pile of mess. What is even worse is her effed up parents. Her mother makes my skin crawl. If i acted the way Lindsay does, my mom would jack my ass up.

You mean Svedka vodka? I laughed and laughed and laughed. As long as no one else gets hurt, I'm more than happy to see her self-destruct. I mean, there's so much to laugh at.

I just keep thinking...has this generation just been worse than previous ones, or is it that we just have access to more details now? Because even with previous trainwrecks like Drew and Angelina, I don't remember DUI's and being spotted with coke and being publically chastised by co-stars and movie studios, the way you see now with Lindsay, Kate Moss, Nicole Ritchie, Paris, etc.
Or I guess it could just be that it used to be that the ones that were THAT screwed up kind of disappeared and stopped getting work? A la Brad Renfro and Natasha Lyonne?

I feel like at a certain point, she's actually going to become difficult to insure, and then at least the parts will dry up for a little while, especially if she can only get insured if she takes drug -*test*-('")s, which is how they insured Robert Downey Jr for a while (I used to work for an insurance brokerage which did a lot of insurance for movies -- it was the only interesting part of that job.). I don't think she could pass them, and everyone knows it.
The thing is, I don't even know if she cares if she's working all that much anymore because it's cutting into her partying time. The whole thing is just sort of unfortunate -- I actually think Lindsay is a decent actress and very charismatic on screen, or at least she WAS. But she's totally spoiled and self-destructive and screwed up and hell-bent on ruining her career. My Psych 101 analysis is that this is all a big F You to her parents, but whatever it is, she is a MESS. We're all lucky she hasn't killed anyone yet.

I think the internet has really changed celebrity. I mean, before, you had tabloids, and the news, and things were reported. I remember waking up to hear that River Phoenix had overdosed at the Viper Room on the radio. But the internet has made things more immediate, more accessible. To a certain extent celebrities are probably more followed and more photographed these days; they have more friends and hangers-on willing to spill the details for money - not that it didn't happen *back in the day.* But now we have people with camera phones and whatnot; gossip is all over the internet within hours, if not minutes after something's happened. I don't think this generation is worse than the previous one, it really is that we just have more details.
The thing is, with this generation, everyone thinks they're invincible. Actually every generation thinks they're invincible, it's just that with this one, nobody's died yet. And they're so coddled and sheltered and insulated by money that no one's going to learn. So Paris Hilton goes to jail. So Lane Garrison pleads guilty and spends the next several years in prison. Nobody's going to change, especially if people keep indulging you, or at least forgiving you.
What I don't understand is how clubs can keep letting minor (I mean agewise) celebs in and serving them alcohol and not getting in trouble.

I don't think this generation thinks it's any more special than any other generation. When I was a teenager (in the 70's) no one got arrested for drunk driving, even if you were swerving in the middle of the road. The most that would happen would be the cops just driving behind you to make sure you got home okay; this happened to my roommate and I after we left a bar and were both completely tanked.

They were talking on the radio the other about how she gets $400,000 just to show up at a night club, so she probably doesn't care if she makes movies or not. Movies are hard, ya'll (comparatively speaking, of course).

That's what makes me sad. Because I used to feel like however fucked up she was, she DID still want to be a good actress. But she seems to have absolutely no ambition at all anymore.
I'm just trying to figure out what it is about her that comes across so much more badly than other stars who've had drug problems, and I think it's just her constant sense of persecution. Even Robert Downey Jr., at his worst, I think always knew he was the one fucking up but was just incapable (at that time) of straightening himself out. There was never this sense of "Why won't people stop picking on me????" that there is with Lindsay and Paris. I also think she's just plain stupider than most of her predecessors who managed to pick themselves up and rehabilitate their lives. I don't think she has the intelligence or the drive to become motivated enough to save herself like RDJ or Drew Barrymore, or the curiosity and ambition to find something else that makes her want to straighten out the way Angelina found with her UNHCR work. I was one who for a long time was waiting for Lindsay to come out the other side because I thought she was smarter and more talented than the morons she was hanging with, but it's just getting harder and harder to envision any scenario in which she doesn't just continue to spiral further and further down.

That is what pisses me off about her the most. ya know, I would like to think if I were a young actress with a lot of money and fame, I wouldn't act the way she and her ilk have, but who knows?? But what makes me mad is her CONSTANT why me?? mentality. I mean, I just saw her on the cover of yet another magazine moaning about the paps ( i think the cover line was 'Lindsay takes aim at the papparazzi), when she has said in the past that she would be upset if the DIDN'T want her picture. Then when she is called on her shit, her and White Oprah have a gazillion excuses. I wish she would just own up (like other stars ya'll have mentioned) and admit she is fucked up and get SERIOUS help.

I remember when FF/MG came out on I thought she was so wonderful, an antithesis to all the other bobblehead teen actresses. And then she started hanging with Paris and it all went downhill. Aren't Lindsay and Kiera K, Scarlett J, and Kirsten D around the same age?? (21/22??) I have to remind myself that she is around their age, because her actions make her seem waaaaaay younger than them .
lurker34- 05-27-2007
God now the fucking entertainment media are all gonna be shoving LLo in my face even MORE.
She and Paris need to be someone's bitches in jail. Though I think LLo could probaly handle herself with Big Bertha more than Paris could. LLo would cut a bitch.

You look at someone like Drew Barrymore who was drinking by the age of eight..that says something. But I agree the internet has changed all of that, and just culture in general. And like others said, no really "pays" for the shit they pull. You look at Drew and her career took a major nosedive, part of that because of her drinking and such at such a young age. But so far with these young party goers, no one is really paying for it. They are still landing magazine covers and followed by the paps, which I'm sorry, lindsay, paris and brit have all majorly courted on the attention..they thrive off it. I don't think back in the day with drew the photogs who weren't as vicious as they are now, cared to get a pic of drew or not.
That and if you had a sex tape leak out, it certainly didn't jumpstart a career (hello Rob Lowe)
Main point being none of these spoiled little (insert appropriate name here) have paid their dues good or bad for anything they've done. It's basically been handed to them on a silver plate with fucked up mom's pushing them to do so. Which to me is no free pass because the stories I heard of Drew's mom, she was the worst, yet drew came out the other side.

Yeah, but also this kind of behavior wasn't really condoned back then. These days you have fans writing letters to politicians to excuse DUIs. How do girls like Paris even have fans?
I think the culture these days glorify the spoiled and dismiss the hard worker. You take a look at that My Super Sweet 16 show and kids are wishing that they could live that lifestyle instead of thinking that its something that is in complete excess. Everyone wants to be a princess and when their celeb princess (Lilo, Hilton, etc.) comes into trouble instead of dealing with the outcome they just want it to disappear because they are princesses and no one should hurt a princess.
