Ethnic Indian fans wrecked cinemas in several Malaysian cities after a nationwide premiere of a long-awaited Tamil film was delayed or canceled due to technical glitches, news reports and a theater employee said Saturday.
Screenings of "Sivaji: The Boss," were canceled or delayed by as much as six hours in four Malaysian states Thursday night, angering movie-goers who then rampaged in a rare display of public violence in this normally peaceful country, The Star and the New Straits Times newspapers reported.
They said police were called in to control hundreds of rioting fans, many of whom demanded refunds and compensation for money they spent on fuel and toll charges to come to the cinemas. |
And I thought having people swear at me because a screening was sold out was bad enough! Yikes!
That thing gives me the heebies. It's like the ancient ancestor of Mickey Mouse that practiced cannibalism.
Mike Nifong disbarred.
About freaking time. For a long time I was worried he would get away with it all. I'm glad to see common sense, and justice, prevail.
Now they need to charge the woman who falsely accused the three.

Yay! I'm so happy about that. I'm glad that a lot of the damage that was done is being undone, but it is sad that none of the people involved will ever be the same.

Nifong made "multiple, egregious mistakes" as he pursued the charges, but not intentionally, his attorney said in closing statements.
"It didn't click," Witt said as he tried to explain one of his client's errors. "His mind is just his mind. That's the way it works. It just didn't click." |
Oh, please. Nifong didn't intentionally withhold evidence? He didn't intentionally know that he was accusing innocent people of a heinous crime? Yes, I find myself doing that all the time - could happen to anyone, really! Especially highly trained and experienced lawyers.
God, I can't believe Nifong's lawyer actually stood up and said that 'it just didn't click' with Nifong that hey, he was keeping clear-cut evidence of the innocence of the accused and hmmm, maybe that's wrong? If that was the best excuse Nifong's lawyer could come up with, then they're all a bunch of morons.

| Airport shut by hare plague |
...I was kind of hoping it would be O'Hare International. Sadly, reality is not so obliging.

| Airport bosses are baffled as to why the hare population at Linate has risen so dramatically in the past few months. |
Have they never heard the expression "breeding like rabbits"?
They don't usually
live in groups though.
I don't understand why a plane would be stopped by a squished hare. Are they giant Donnie Darko-style hares?
Things I've learned today No 1 - the jackrabbits Pa Ingalls used to shoot are really hares.
Good grief. No wonder American teens have to turn to
this sort of thing
