This woman gives new definition to the term ballbreaker (or nutcracker, I guess, but technically they weren't cracked).

Eris Rising
QUOTE
Planetary astronomy professor Michael E. Brown and graduate student Schaller found otherwise while studying Dysnomia, the moon of Eris, another dwarf planet.

Using the Keck Observatory and        Hubble Space Telescope they were able to calculate the movement of Dysnomia and, with that information, calculate the mass of Eris at 27 percent more than Pluto. But even though Eris tops Pluto, Earth is still 360 times more massive

The British press loves to make the U.S. sound like it's full of crazies, psammead. You should be careful of mistaking stories like this one for typical practices. Skepticism is a good thing.

psammead- 06-14-2007
I don't think I said I thought the US was full of crazies or that this was a typical practice (if you click my link it's fairly obvious I wasn't suggesting that!). However, this is certainly an 'only in America' story that couldn't possibly happen here, for many reasons. And you have to admit, it's pretty crazy! Plus, I've seen plenty of American press reports that give a pretty skewed picture of Britain as a nation of eccentrics.

Topic? Squirrel on the rampage

Jesus H. Garcia- 06-15-2007
God, I hate squirrels. We had some crazy, fearless quad squirrels at my college and I'm holding a grudge. Glad the old dude squished the sucker.

The Dude- 06-15-2007
Squirrels at my school are like that too.

What is it about a squirrel that once they get into college they think they run everything?
