HOLY SHIT.  That is really horrific.  (And it will probably be on Law & Order: SVU by the end of the year.  Stabler is going to be so pissed.)

The "12 year old" went to school in Surprise, Arizona. This is going to be a Lifetime movie of the week. What a mess.

Yeah, but Law & Order will adapt it to New York and throw in, like, murderous clowns or something.

Ah, so you're thinking a Goren and Eames episode on CI!

Man loses wife in card game - but don't worry, there's a happy ending!

Binky- 02-02-2007
That 29-year-old 12-year-old is truly horrifying - but the part I find funny is that the two sex offenders he was living with also apparently thought he was 12. So, really, they should be charged with statutory rape, since they THOUGHT they were having sex with a child.

tothemax- 02-03-2007
Statutory rape laws on care about the age of the minor. If an adult who has sex with a minor believes that the minor is above the age of consent, then he can be charged with statutory rape. If the adult believes another adult is a minor when in fact she is above the age of consent, then it's not statutory rape. Basically, the adult's belief about the minor's age is irrelevant.

bookworm- 02-03-2007
I think they're going to be charge with attempted statutory rape because they were trying to have sex with a minor, but they actually didn't.

Designer Dog Fights

QUOTE
...the puggle, a designer dog with no clear design objective, seems to have set off an almost unintelligible free-for-all. Pugs alone are now being bred to Yorkshire terriers, Shih Tzus, bichon frisés, Pekingese, rat terriers, Boston terriers, dachshunds, Jack Russell terriers and Chihuahuas to create, respectively, Pugshires, Pug-Zus, Pushons, Puginese, Puggats, Pugstons, Daugs, Jugs and Chugs. Beagles mount Bostons. Chihuhuauas do Yorkies. Beagles and basset hounds are making Bagels; bassets and Shar-Peis are making Sharp Assets — “a more laid-back dog that says, ‘If you don’t feel like taking me for a walk, no big deal,’ ” Havens’s Web site claims. Poodles are being pushed further into a goofy taxonomy of portmanteau labels: Maltipoos, Eskipoos, Doodleman Pinschers.

I have a lhasa poo. She's adorable, but I wish people would remember that these are not designer dogs, worth hundreds of dollars, they are mutts. And there are plenty of perfectly adorable and needy mutts already, so please adopt one of them instead!

Apple [formerly Computer] Inc. and Apple Corps. [The Beatles] have settled their ancient lawsuit!

Hopefully this will lead to Beatles music on iTunes before much longer.

psammead- 02-05-2007
Though it won't make the rights to Beatles songs any cheaper - there's quite a backlog of British tv programmes that aren't coming out on dvd any time soon because they have Beatles stuff in them.

The bank has apologised for the error but stated that people who apply for credit cards must sign to confirm the information provided is true.

And, really, what could possibly go wrong with relying solely on something like this? Oh wait.

sister_kat- 02-05-2007
I think I posted a news link about the cat who received a credit card a while back on my LiveJournal. Quite a funny story, though.
