I dunno. I'd say that getting associated with Undercover Picard is pretty kickass.
Plus, only the true geeks will associate Galen with Trek, so it's an associate that won't result in the kid's ass getting kicked.

Nope the "gay" part of Gay-lin will do that by itself.

You're correct. Jean-Luc Picard uses the name Galen in two episodes when he goes on some undercover mission. So, all in all, I think Darby Galen Dempsey is not a good name.
|
It was an homage to his old mentor, Dr. Galen, who the writers named in homage to the ancient Greek doctor guy. So technically, it's an old name and a Star Trek name.
I don't mind the name that much, actually.

Kids don't normally know each other's middle names, do they? Unless someone chooses to use it, other people wouldn't hear it. So the "Galen" wouldn't get the kid's ass kicked unless it somehow came out.
The Lady of Shalott- 02-04-2007
I dunno, kids have a way of finding that out. Exhibit A: The guy I went to school with whose middle name was "Milton."
Poor guy.
dinahmoe- 02-04-2007
Did he set the school on fire?

Darby is a town in PA where I'm from.

| Everytime I see "Darby" I think "Darcy," but with a typo. |
It could be Dabney as in Dabney Coleman. It could be a whole lot worse than Darby.
Starveillance had a great segment about Gwenyth trying to figure out another crazy name for her baby. Chris Martin wanted to name the baby Coldplay.

Amanda Peet and her husband had
a daughter yesterday, named Frances Pen.
I like it, it's a cute name.
Amilyn- 02-24-2007
Jordan Knight off of New Kids on the Block and his wife just had their second son, Eric Jacob. Which is another lovely, normal name. Their first is called Dante Jordan, which isn't so great, but not awful.
Am I alone in disliking Marcia Cross' chosen names? Eden and Savannah sound like they're on Sunset Beach. Just wrong.
FabulousPant- 02-24-2007
Frances Pen is normal, but still original. I like it.
Eden and Savannah...well, I like Eden, but I've never been a big fan of the name "Savannah". Where I come from, it's a popular name for white trash babies.
maxell1313- 02-24-2007
See, I'm the opposite. I think Savannah is a lovely name, but Eden doesn't do anything for me.
Queen Esther- 02-24-2007
Savannah and Eden both sound like characters in a V.C. Andrews book. I'm not a huge fan of Frances Pen, but it'll do. I wonder if they call her Baby? Or put her in the corner?

I'm with you. I don't like them either. Eden and Savannah sound like names of strippers and/or porn stars.
Frances Pen is a very cute name though as is Eric Jacob.

I would agree, but isn't Amanda Peet's husband (typically the root of the baby's last name) David Benioff?
I'm mildly alarmed by Frances Pen Benioff. Unless I'm pronouncing one of them incorrectly.
