Oh dear. Patrick is the only good name of that group.

leone- 02-02-2007
OK I know Patrick Dempsey is of Irish descent, but seriously - Darby? That poor kid. And as for his brother, well, surnames as firstnames isn't great either. Although almost anything is better than Darby Galen.

QueenSix- 02-02-2007
OMG, if Dempeo had twins, they would have the coolest names ever! Obviously these names were chosen by the wife, crazy woman that she is!

I dunno, Sullivan can always be shortened to Sully. And obviously Patrick is rocking his Irish roots naming the other one after Darby O'Gill and the Little People.

Galen reminds me of a Star Trek character.

It just struck me-- he's going to have to go by Darby Dempsey. That sounds utterly ridiculous (really ridiculous, as Darby Dempsey will one day say). Did they forget to say the full name outloud or something?

NovemberRain- 02-02-2007
I actually like the name Sullivan but Darby? No...just no.

mialoubug- 02-02-2007
I just hope those are beloved family names that are in tribute to people.

katesti- 02-02-2007
Am I the only one who likes Darby, then? I mean, sure, Darby Dempsey is bad, but I don't hate Darby on its own.

Diego Zanzibar- 02-02-2007
Nah, I think "Darby" is cute too. Alliterative names are twee, but it's much better than Donald Dempsey or some other creatively-spelled double-d name. Plus, there won't be any other kids in his class named Darby (unless there are still fans of Introducing the Hardline According To around...)

Binky- 02-02-2007
Patrick Dempsey's own middle name is Galen. I think Darby Galen Dempsey is awful. Darby isn't so bad, but it's too matchy-matchy with Dempsey, and Galen? Gay-lin. Might be a little problematic for a boy in the 21st century. I know it's in the middle, but that's not going to stop the taunting.

Actonbell- 02-02-2007
I like the name Darby because it reminds me of Darby Crash, but Darby Dempsey sounds completely moronic.

Poubelle- 02-02-2007
Everytime I see "Darby" I think "Darcy," but with a typo.

Or else I think "derby."

misspandora- 02-02-2007
I like all those names, but I agree that Darby Dempsey is horrid.

kai- 02-02-2007
I think Sullivan is a great name, and mock Galen all you want, but Galen Gering's done alright with it. (Though yes, Darby Dempsey is a bit much.)

Roma79- 02-02-2007
I went to school with a kid named Darby, but his last name was a more common one and not cutesy, like Dempsey. Darby Dempsey sounds like a cartoon character.

Galen reminds me of a Star Trek character.

You're correct. Jean-Luc Picard uses the name Galen in two episodes when he goes on some undercover mission. So, all in all, I think Darby Galen Dempsey is not a good name.
