Well, she is named after two kickass Disney characters, let's be fair. Neither Nala nor Ariel were the type to sit around and wait to get rescued. Nala saw how much things sucked for her pride under Scar, and left on her own to find help. Ariel refused to take no for an answer (at least from her father or singing crabs or wussy-guppy flounders), and while the prince did rescue her in the end, she rescued him first, so it was only fair.

Of course, based on what I've seen of Halle Berry's Storm (and what I've heard about her Catwoman), she's probably operating with a very different version of kickass than the rest of us.

I think "Nahla" is really pretty, but "Nahla Aubrey" kind of runs together. Nahlaburey.

For those of you who don't have small kids- Max and Emme are the names of the two siblings on Dragon Tales, a very popular kids show on PBS. I would bet that J. Lo doesn't know this. Boy, is she ever going to be a laughing stock with the other moms and the soccar game.

Also- I worked with a woman last summer named Andriana. A culmination of Adriana, Andrea, and Ariana. This woman was one of the most high-maintenance people I have ever had the unpleasure to work with, and I blame it on the name- She was condemned to a life of correcting people on her name, and it may be what turned her into a shrew. No offense to any other Andrianas out there, or if she is reading this.....hi! Miss you! All three of those names are fine, but mash them together, and you give your kid a complex.

So I guess my old boss shouldn't have named his kid Ameliana, heh.

I think that's unusual, but very pretty. I love Ariela even if tends to remind me of the Little Mermaid. LOL

Whereas it reminds me of Areola. Oops.

I quite like Nahla Aubry, though -- it's the kind of name you find on Very Important Writers or other intellectual types. She better not turn out to be an airhead.

MSNBC has a video on bad baby names, including the usual suspects -- Pilot Inspektor, Audio Science, Moxie Crimefighter.

Elizabeth Röhm and her fiancé Ron Wooster had a baby girl named Easton August Anthony. I didn't even know she was pregnant. Is that because she's a lesbian?

vodka_rebellion- 04-13-2008
It's a middle name, so whatever, but Anthony? Girl? I had to re-read that a few times to make sure it didn't say boy, because the whole thing reads BOY to me. Perhaps because she's a lesbian.

Lily Rose- 04-13-2008
Apparently she dreamed her baby's name. Which I can't knock her for, because I did exactly the same thing...with my dog. Who is not a lesbian.

Binky- 04-13-2008
Anthony is the surname. But yeah, the kid's got two X chromosomes and three boy's names. WTF?

Lily Rose- 04-13-2008
Why would the baby's surname be Anthony if the mother's surname is Röhm and the father's surname is Wooster?

Why would the baby's surname be Anthony if the mother's surname is Röhm and the father's surname is Wooster?

The announcement refers to Anthony as Wooster's "other surname", whatever that means.

Lily Rose- 04-13-2008
That's super confusing. I blame the lesbians.

Miss Moneypenny- 04-13-2008
Is he, like, Lord Wooster or something? British nobles are the only ones I can think of who can get away with two different last names.

Cate Blanchett had her baby! A boy named Ignatius Martin Upton. Ignatius. From anyone else, I'd be mocking, but from Cate, I think it's awesome. They can call him Iggy.
