Indeed. And his parents could call him Griff for short. If you were on the playground, would you fuck with a kid named Griff? I think not.

Milla Jovovich explains daughter Ever Gabo's name:
QUOTE
"the name Ever is a scottish boy's name, [her husband] Paul has scottish blood in him (not to mention two tartans in his family!) so we wanted to give her a name that reflected her "celtic" roots, while her middle name Gabo -pronounced "Gabeau"- is a mixture of my parents names! the first two letters are after my mom's first name, Galina and the last two letters are after my dad's first name Bogie!"

There's a picture of the baby too, and she is beautiful.

I was just reading about the singer Dido since I discovered her song "Christmas Day." Her full name? Is Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle Armstrong.

It seems like I've heard of Florian being used as a boy's name? That is an interesting mix of names.

Florian is a boy's name in Germany.

That reminds me of this that I read yesterday. Poppy Montgomery's full name is Poppy Petal Emma Elizabeth Deveraux Donoghue Montgomery. AND her sisters are named Rosie Thorn, Daisy Yellow, Lily Belle, and Marigold Sun.

So I'm glad that it seems she'll be giving her child a normal name.

You know, those are both awesome names. I think there's a point where you just have to sit back and admire the commitment some parents have to really going all out with an over-the-top name. I mean, go big or go home, y'know?

Okay, the Scottish roots are fine and dandy, but why give her daughter a boy's name? I've been to Scotland, there were definitely girls and I'm sure they had first names as well. So why couldn't they have gone with a Scottish girl's name? I just don't get this gender-reversal thing with first names. But hey, at least the baby's cute.

So it is pronounced like Gabbo!

Wilhelmina- 12-03-2007
No, I guess it's Gah-beau, like Garbo as in Greta Garbo, just without the "r". The more I think about it, the more it makes my head hurt.

You know, if I tried to name a child after my parents using that logic, I'd end up with Maba/Bama going by first 2 letters. Which is a sign I shouldn't do it. Also, her dad's name was Bogie?

If I did it, the kid would either be Wapa or Pawa. The first one looks like a souind effect from the old Batman series.

Bogie? Is that short for something? Was he really named after Humphrey Bogart?

See, Griffin is great. That's a cool name. I could even get behind Ever if it was spelled the Gaelic way. But Gabo?

jenelope- 12-03-2007
Crap. I kind of like the portmanteau of my parents name: "Lonene." Not a real name, but kind of pretty. (Lonne and Irene, BTW)

Scarlettfish- 12-03-2007
And if I did it, my kid's name would be either Loca or Calo. Not good.

Luftballoons- 12-03-2007
I get Willori. Or Lilliam.
