True. I do sometimes wonder if I'm the only person in Britain who is neither a 'reality tv star' or a 'tv presenter'.
Listen up people, do not
mess with Paul Sorvino. He did not become a did not become a Lackawanna County Volunteer

Well there's me as well.
So that makes at least 2 of us.
Brandy involved in fatal highway crash. The article says that it was caused by her car hitting another car.
Well that was certainly unexpected.
I just realized that Paris Hilton and I are the same age.
Why does that seem weird to me?

Because in your lifetime you haven't managed to make millions of people hate you.

By all accounts, it doesn't sound like she was being negligent in any way. I'd be surprised if they even charge her.
Well, because she hit the other car which caused the fatality, she's probably going to get charged but walk on probation or be found not guilty. But technically she may be guilty of manslaughter since there was no malice.
Brandy sued for $50M in deadly car crashI realize that there's no amount of money that could make the family's loss worth it, but. . .fifty million? I'm positive Brandy doesn't even have that kind of money. She's hardly Britney Spears. I worry that the family is getting really bad legal advice. I know you're supposed to ask for more than you think you can get, but that seems in the range that will annoy a judge.
See this is where I feel more for Brandy than the victim - would they sue for this much if she weren't a celebrity?

But would she be facing the chance of just probation if she wasn't a celebrity? Because let's face it, more often than not, celebrities are not thrown into jail for crimes that they have committed.
Sometimes I feel that people sue for such large amounts so that they can hit them where it hurts. They know that money means a lot to celebrrities so they're going to take as much of that away as they can.
And I'm still pissed at Brandy since apparently some civil rights group has come to her defense because she's being "railroaded by the LAPD". They have a point. It's not like causing someone's death is against the law.
I think even a non-celebrity would be getting probation. So, I doubt she's getting special treatment, per se. Unless the person has a history of other crimes, probation would be the most likely outcome.
The fact that they are suing her so soon after the accident makes the family look like gold diggers. I know that they are in a lot of pain, and probably mad that Brandy will only get probation, but they are definitely getting bad legal advise. They could sue after she has gone through the legal system.
I wouldn't say the child's parents are getting bad legal advice. The parents' lawyer knows that this case will more than likely settle before trial and he wants to have a good bargaining position. Filing suit quickly, while the accident is still in the public consciousness, and for a lot of money strengthens that position. Crass as this sounds, in the end, this suit is about money.
