Why is he even talking about that? Its old news, shut the hell up, you obviously won the PR war.
klk1714- 09-04-2007
I could see him talking about his time with Fishstick before him bringing up Jen in an interview after all this time. Even if they really are still "friends"...sorry the snarker in me just finds that very hard to swallow, why publicly talk about it?
Maybe years and years down the line when all 3 parties are in their twilight years, kind of like Liz Taylor and Debbie Reynolds did not too long ago about their own version of a triangle. Just seems odd.
I praise him for getting more involved with charities, etc.. but I think he needs to let sleeping dogs lie and not remind people of no matter how that all really went down, he moved rather quickly and better to just let that dead horse stay buried.

Brad and Maddox are at the Yankees vs Mariners game tonight with Spike Lee and his son. Maddox is wearing a cute little Yankees cap and Derek Jeter came over and gave the boys bats. Really cute. Derek that is. Ok and the kids. And Brad. But mostly Derek.
Thank you YES network for airing this game.

Given that the tabloids haven't stopped running, "Jen is still hung up on Brad! Jen is afraid she'll die alone! Brad wishes he'd stayed with Jen! Angelina and Jen in poolside catfight!" headlines since the divorce, I can totally see why he brought it up. Should he have? Probably not. But I understand the impulse behind it.
AtticaFinch- 09-04-2007
Oh, but I can see the headlines now- something about Angelina seething with jealousy over Brad wanting *finds way to rearrange "we have a lot of life together" into something damaging.*
That said- I do think that quote would be better if it was- "We had a lot of life together" because putting it in the present tense is just asking for trouble.
But if definitely like him better when he's chasing his kiddies around and not talking.

Brad has Angelina's birthday tatooed under his belly.
How cute.
Lady V- 09-04-2007
I don't know, I don't really see the big deal about his comments. It just sounds like he wanted to clarify that Angelina wasn't the reason why his marriage ended seeing as she mostly got the blame(and still does) for it. But yeah it would've been better not to bring it up and do I believe that he's friends with Jen? Not really.

Eesh, I hope it's not big. I don't like it when couples get their names or anythiing tattooed on each other. The kids I don't mind. Angelina didn't you get Billy Bob on you? You should have talked Brad out of it!

Well he didn't get her name. He got her birthday. Plus it's small so if they split or anything he could always get it removed or even keep it there.

Don't y'all imagine that he was responding to a question about Anniston? I doubt he brought it up witihout prompting.
Binky- 09-04-2007
Oh no doubt he was being prompted, but he should have said what he said on 20/20 about his divorce: "*Snort* Like I'm gonna talk about that."

More tidbits from interviews:
On Jesse James:
•"I remember making it vividly. For one, Angie (partner Angelina Jolie) was pregnant. It was a very nice time for us. … So personally, it was a magical time."
•"There's a big lack of understanding of consequence. Especially with the Robert Ford character (played by Casey Affleck). This isn't so much a Western. It plays more like a psychological study of these guys. I probably just killed ticket sales right there. I've never been a good salesman."
On New Orleans:
•"We've made our American base there. We have a place in L.A., but it's become impossible. There are too many paparazzi, too many people outside the gate, too much following, too much sticking cameras in kids' faces. I want to have some semblance of a real life. We have managed to find that in New Orleans."
•"The people of New Orleans have been failed on the federal level, and the state level, and the local level."
On his split with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston:
•"I don't know how better to have handled it. My view was, this is no one's business in the end - at least in matters of the heart. So you need to protect all involved as much as possible. I don't know if that cooled things off or exacerbated them, but it was a thing I felt justly about at the time. Again, the thing guiding me then was you don't know how many days you have and you need life to be everything you want it to be. … Jen and I still maintain a deep friendship and have a lot of life together that isn't erased in any way."
On the paparazzi and tabloid obsession with his family:
•"It is the defining annoyance of my life. I just think how strange it is for my kids. Mad, Z, Pax - they really believe that every time you go outside there is a herd of people with cameras snapping flashes in your face (who) are going to kind of block your way when you're trying to get somewhere."
On being over 40:
•"When you turn 40, all of that pressure (to take on the blockbuster role) evaporates. And then you become a father and then … forget about it. It's not an issue. I'm at a point where I feel like I understand what I'm doing. … As I've gotten older, I've realized the most important thing on a project is the people I'm working with. That's what I remember most about the films I've done."
•"Your face kind of goes. Your body's not quite working the same. But you earned it. You earned that, things falling apart."

Now the quote makes more sense. I have always believe the separation and divorce was mutual and done deal, what wasn't really clear was how much "feelings" he has for Jolie or how that relationship made it seems like his marriage didn't exist or meant something.

You know, maybe it's just because I like Brad and Angie and their beautiful kids, but I find it very easy to believe Brad and Jen were pretty much over before he and Angelina met. For a couple of years before the split both Brad and Jen were evasive and often unenthusiastic-sounding when they talked about their relationship--her almost more than him. It was like they wanted to keep their private lives private, but they found it hard to tell a direct lie.
And now that he's all into the daddy thing, which he said for a couple of years before the split that he desperately wanted... well, I can see that being a huge reason for a marriage to end. I'm sure when they got married they were on the same page about big things, or thought they were, but it just seems like as time went on parenthood became really important to him and she realized it just wasn't for her, or something. And since there was no way for them to stay together without someone losing and resenting it, it's probably just as well they split up.
Yeah. You can tell I have drunk the Kool-Aid. Just make with the cute kiddie pics and nobody will get hurt.
