Most of those 20-somethings don't even look 20-something to me. They ain't foolin' no one but I suppose the show does need one token "old" person. 40 might be the new 20 but 45 is over the hill in Hollywood.

Me Talk Pretty- 07-10-2008
The new season starts airing this Sunday - July 13th. You can check out the cast at the CBS site. So far, Dan seems like he will be the biggest asshole. Right now I'm rooting for Jerry just because he's old. In the "Meet the Cast" video, Julie Chen mentions that this is the first time since Season 3 that all of the houseguests will be strangers. I can't believe that it has been that long, but I am really glad that they're going back to that format.

They haven't revealed what the "twist" will be, but I've seen some people speculate that it's just about the houseguests having very diverse opinions. That sounds kind of boring. I've also heard that this season will feature live audiences for the eviction episodes.

I'm actually not hating Dan, and I can't believe I'm gonna say this because well it's only been 48 hours and there is miles to go, MILES TO GO, but this group of hammies seems almost I don't know....smart. Not in terms of game play, there as stupid as ever as far as that goes, but in terms of average conversations, it seems as if they might not be gutter snipes. Then again in less than two days they've already rung up three racist comments.

Oh and I love Brian and Angie, go Brian and Angie.

Jessica- 07-16-2008
I feel like, two episodes in and this is already a more interesting season than the last.

Jasmine- 07-16-2008
Seriously. The casting was a MILLION times better this time. Even though I can't tell most of the men that are not Jerry and Jessie apart.

Newt- 07-16-2008
Enjoying it so far, too. I am really hoping that Jerry sticks around for awhile. I love that even though he's so much older than the rest of the housemates, he definitely came into the game to play.

I am still kind of surprised that Libra left four-month-old twins to go into the house, but hey, hope she does well enough to make it worth it!

Heather- 07-16-2008
That is my question -- I mean, she must've been either about to pop or JUST have given birth when she applied to be on this cycle. Which is... weird. Like, she show isn't getting cancelled. Wait until NEXT summer, maybe, when your twins aren't infants?

I'm enjoying it so far, but Jerry is going to make it hard for me. I have this weird difficulty with watching cute old people get sad -- I know it doesn't sound that strange when i write it out, because really, who DOES enjoy watching the white-hairs cry? But it's like, extreme to the point where I am worried about Jerry getting upset ALL THE TIME. Or hurting himself. I just want us all to LIVE, dammit.

That said, I love that Renny already has her own theme music and we're only in the second episode.

Here's my issue with Libra and her kids. She left them with her husband. Not with a stranger, so they are with a parent. If a man came into the house and left his babies at home with his wife, would there even be a question about it?

And now y'alls got me defending Libra who makes me want to smack her everytime she comes on the feeds.

Newt- 07-16-2008
You've got a point, but speaking only for myself, if a man left his four-month-old twin babies at home with his wife to go on Big Brother, yeah, I would think he was crazy, too!

I mean, if it's her dream to be on Big Brother, great. Hope she wins and makes lots of money. I think you'd just worry that you'd, like, be first on the jury and have to hang out for a couple months in sequester. I mean, the show requires so much time commitment that most of the con-*test*-('")ants usually don't have huge personal or professional responsibilities that would preclude their participation. So (with a few notable exceptions) you get a lot of models/waitresses/bikini baristas, and the people who do have kids tend to have older kids. Libra just stuck out to me in that context.

Heather- 07-17-2008
Yeah, I'd think it was equally weird for a man to leave babies at home that young. Has nothing to do with gender. I'm sure she has a decent reason - I tuned out during the live show when they asked her - but it's just one of those decisions that... is weird to me.

I will sort of miss Brian. It's SO EARLY for them to be punchy enough to do a sock-puppet show but it was entertaining enough, and he was making it dramatic with all the strategizing. And... he was cute.

And... he was cute.

I thought he was cute too, and I know it's shallow, but that's why I wanted Brian to stay. Plus, as everyone in the house said, he was entertaining.

I don't like the guy who won HOH. I can't remember his name, but my sister and I just call him "muscle guy." I thought he was right to be pissed at Renny's loudness when he was trying to sleep, but he was too dramatic about it and made it into too big of deal. I wonder if he'll actually nominate Renny. I can't even guess who else he'll nominate because I haven't been checking out any of the live feed updates.

For some strange reason, I had a dream about the show last night. The final two houseguests were April and Keesha. So if they are the finalists, I'm totally psychic. Now watch, they'll be the next two to go.

swsa- 07-17-2008
I'm not sure if this should be spoilered. There's nothing plotty here, just my opinions on some of the houseguests. Watching the feeds, >>I've had almost the opposite of reactions from what I've expected. Libra is controlling and catty. April's one of the nastiest houseguests I've ever seen. Jerry is annoying and pervy. I really want all of them gone. OTOH, so far I like Angie, Keesha, Dan, and Memphis. I seriously cannot believe I like the guy who insists on being referred to as a mixologist and not a bartender.

And yes, on the feeds, Brian was smart and hilarious and I so didn't want him to go.

I expected to dislike Jessie and I do. Get set to see all of his body building posing pics on the ep on Sunday. Scintillating. "I was 170 here, and man, I was SHREDDED."

Heather- 07-18-2008
I forgot to chime in with how hysterical I think it is that they INSIST on using sarcastic quotation marks around "Mixologist" in Memphis's lower-third. Nobody else gets quotes but he gets them every time. Heeeeee.

HerRoyalRedness- 07-18-2008
I liked Brian, but he made the classic mistake of playing the game way too hard way too early. And running around the house telling people that you're controlling the HoH is never a good idea.

And boo to Jessie. What a freaking baby.

blixie- 07-20-2008
I can not wait for Jessie's reign of Toolishness to be over. They can also vote out Jerry yesterday, he's boring, and stupid, and I really don't like him.

I continue to love Dan, like Steve Pasquale on Rescue Me, he's my little Deer in the Meadow. I loved how open and enaged he was with Steven about his sexuality, and he is just comically unprepared for this game despite all his braggodacio early on. Why didn't Angie/Keesha/Dan/Steven make one of those pre-game alliances?! Team Sock Puppet all the way.

I kind of want to like Memphis, but I kind of don't, and it is hilarious they keep up the quotation marks around his occupation. It might as well say, "douche".
