It does sort of suck for Eric that he's being targeted for votes he can't cast the way he otherwise would have, but he's such a moron that I kind of don't mind. What kills me is that nobody is sitting around going, "Hmm, wait, every time in the last two weeks we discussed NOT eliminating Kail, Eric made a big show of trying to get us to change our minds..."

I think the reason Amber is escaping suspicion is that she was almost too obvious, since she liked Nick -- for America to single out Eric, who has otherwise been flying under the radar, seems to be a bigger indication that something secret might be up. Maybe. I don't know. But I love that Amber was all, "I CAN'T LIE," when in fact the editors showed her sobbing to Nick about how she didn't know he was going to go, juxtaposed with that flashback of her suggesting to Dustin that they backdoor him.

Good times.

I don't think anyone was shocked by the "Amber the Liar" revelation. They already saw her turn on someone who she claimed was "like a brother" to her. She and Dustin have fought. I think they all know she's two-faced and phony. They just also think she's too dumb and emotionally fucked-up to worry about. Whereas Eric is a smart guy who they know is reality tv-obsessed. He's a much bigger threat.

But he really didn't try to get anyone to change their minds last week. Which is actually a huge part of what's causing his problems. America gave him his marching orders (Save Nick), and he ignored them. I kind of find it hilarious that the downfall of America's Player may have been set in motion by America. Hee. But I guess the reason it doesn't bug me is that I do think it could've been easily avoided if he hadn't become SO fixated on Nick. And I also feel like being AP gives Eric certain advantages (outside info, extra money), so it balances out the disadvantages.

I don't feel sorry for him at all. He made his bed. He started shit in the house that he didn't need to. Ducking responsibility for the voting, for vandalizing Jen's stuff...that's one thing. But he actively worked to pin it on Nick, and then went ahead and pushed for Nick to be nominated and evicted. Well, guess what? Now his scapegoat's gone. It was sloppy gameplay on his part. I think the banner obviously hurt him, but Daniele and Dick were getting suspicious of him even before that.

I totally agree. Sure, it's not fair that Eric had to be America's Player, but since he KNOWS that he is, he's been going about it in a pretty stupid way. He hasn't been sly at all, and his rage in the Diary Room against Daniele and Dick seemed really stupid, since he HAS done everything that they think that he's done.

And is he really a liar? He can't tell people about his secret role.

Yeah I agree, plus BB, if you're not lying to somebody you're not playing right. I like Eric but he did bring this on himself, I still want him to pull it out and stick around.

MaddyCat- 08-06-2007
Does he HAVE to vote the way America tells him to? I can't tell. I thought the second time he was to vote for Kail, he should've been all, "America, this will totally screw my strategy, so I can't do it. Sorry." He loses the extra cash, yes, but his secret is safe. Is it simply not an option?

I thought he was pretty good at holding his own against the raging Dick (there's an odd phrase) last night. Still, everyone pretty much thinks he's a weasel, now, so he's screwed.

Jasmine- 08-06-2007
I don't think that it's an option for him to vote any other way -- though, you're right, he should be able to just say "I don't want the cash for this one, sorry!" and not do that task. But every time he goes into the Diary Room to vote, Julie just says "Well, we already know how you're voting!" So it doesn't seem like he gets the option. I hope he's asked about that, though.

Heather- 08-07-2007
If only they hadn't picked a complete moron as America's Player (although I'm not sure anything could've saved that twist -- "target someone's personal property"? That's just wrong and idiotic, they had to have known that would lead to some minor vandalism and nothing more). The only time Eric has been remotely interesting to me was in the last episode, when his back was up against the wall and he had to find a way to defend himself against accusations that are both true (in action) and false (in motivation). Otherwise I just find him really cloying, convinced he's funny and charming and wrong on both counts. Curious to see if he can actually PLAY now that he's trying to save his skin.

sparklymouse- 08-07-2007
I thought Julie asked Eric to confirm who he was voting for during the first vote. After that she started making stupid small talk each time. They either changed the rules on him or didn't explain them very well to the viewers because in the beginning I assumed he could always pick whether or not he wanted to do something. They also stopped the mission accomplished/failed graphics after a few times. Has he even made any money yet? You'd think they'd update us, but something tells me this America's Player thing isn't going how producers wanted it too. It's no good if America keeps picking the obvious candidate for nomination and Eric basically has to do nothing. It was fun when he tried to convince Jen to nominate Jessica(?) because it was rather random.

swsa- 08-08-2007
1. Jameka is CRAZY.

2. Eric: "It's a desperation move. Dick and Daniele are trying to get out the player they think is strongest and the biggest threat to them." Hmmm. Last time I checked that was less under the definition of "desperation" and more as um, the goal of the entire game. This is why he bugs me. He likes to act like he's this gamer who's above all these hysterics who play emotionally, but he's so not. He gets offended when anyone dares to make a move against him. He gets personal over others just trying to win. He so doesn't keep things at a game-level.

blixie- 08-08-2007
I don't know I agree with him, it's desperation because Dick/Dani stupidly voted out one of their strongest allies, when it clearly CLEARLY wasn't the best strategy for them, and the only reason Dick ever realized this was because a *banner* had to tell him so. And whether Eric stays or goes the only person firmly in their hip pocket going forward is Zach. That smells at least a little desperate.

If Jess really is the swing vote (and with Jam/Dustin/Blubber there's no reason to think it will be) I hope she's smart enough to not vote Eric out, he's so obviously her strongest ally, not only is he generally loyal to her, he's now got extra incentive to be loyal to her all the way to final 2. I love that America has gone from gunning for her to hoping she makes Final 2, yay Jess!

swsa- 08-08-2007
Oh, I don't disagree that voting out Nick was stupid on their part. But to their credit, even they realized that a couple days before the vote but weren't able to flip the votes. But they do know that Eric has his hands in several different pies and was the most vocal about wanting Nick out (something Eric stupidly reinforced ad nauseum after Nick left). I think those are all solid reasons to want Eric out, banner or no. And I do think they were suspicious of him before the banner ever flew. Eric's offended that they dared come after him, and to me, that's one of the most annoying traits a houseguest can have.

In other news, Amber hates Jewish people, and Fox news is onto it.

Jesus H. Garcia- 08-08-2007
Hmmm. Call me psychic, but something tells me that when Amber finds out this made news she's going to CRY.

ETA: Amber Siyavus Tomcavage. So, that's seriously her name? I wouldn't make fun of her for that, but she already went there, so...

Heather- 08-08-2007
That sounds like a Harry Potter character. I'm going to write a fanfic of her and Hagrid.

HerRoyalRedness- 08-08-2007
I hate pretty much everyone in the house with the exception of Eric.

-Dick: I almost wish he never won HoH because ever since then he's become a huge bully who thinks he runs the house. Plus, the verbal abuse is ridiculous.

-Danielle: Has nominated my favorite player (and may be responsible for sending him home this week) plus she's letting her dad bully everyone.

-Amber: If the crying wasn't enough to make me despise her, her racist rant did it for me.

-Dustin: I want to like him, but I hate that he nominated Nick, the only eye candy left in the house. Also, >> it looks like has rejoined with Dick & Danielle and will be voting Eric out. If he keeps him and makes a stand against the bully he would become my new favorite player.<<

-Jameka: God has more things to worry about then what goes on in the Big Brother house. Plus, I hate that she took Jen off the block.

-Kail: She's homophoic, will sell out anyone to stay in the game, and other than her HoH win the first week, hasn't done a thing to deserve to be nominated three weeks in a row and not be evicted.

-Jen: I hate Dick even more for making me feel sorry for this self-absorbed twinkie. I might've liked her for her ability to stay cool in the face of his abuse but the fact that she's a Chilltown plant vaults her to just below Dick on my hate list. I had to watch those two a-holes ruin two seasons of Big Brother for me and I hate that they're worming their way into a 3rd season.

-Zach and Jessica - I actually don't hate these two but they're such non-entities that I have no real opinion of them.

I think these people might be more vile than the S6ers, because at least then we had Janelle, Howie, and Kaysar. Just when you think they couldn't get a bigger group of jerks together the producers manage to out-do themselves.

I thought I was the only one! As to your assessment of the rest of these people? Dead on. We're totally brain twins.

I know about >>AbortionGate but I can't fault Eric for it. Amber's an idiot to tell that story to a complete stranger and NOT realize it might affect her in a game like this. And even if that's the reason she's claiming she wants Eric evicted, her Jewish bashing is when she really started to turn on him. It's icky.<<

I feel much dirtier watching this BB than I ever have before. I might even have to go the melodramtic route and stop watching.

Also? Amber's now made CNN, too. Would CBS actually throw her out? Pretty please?
