As for Brangelina - I hope they last.

Me too, and for a long time I didn't even care either way. But they've really grown on me with all the charity work they do together. And all the cute kids helps a lot.

A 4 year old - I wonder how Maddox is handling all his new brothers and sisters

december- 03-07-2007
I wonder if Maddox is going to rebel massively in years to come, just in the past year and a half, his life has changed from being mainly his mother and him, to having a dad and also having to 'share' his mother with not just his dad but also two sisters. Not to mention all the travelling and the increased paparazzi surrounding them. Not to mention other factors like having new family from Brad's side and also Angelina's mother death which from all reports impacted her hard. Even though his only 5 he would have some more awareness of all the changes. Although from the pap pics he hasn't really freaked out yet and he seems to love his sisters at this stage-didn't Brad say something about him holding Shiloh?

swsa- 03-07-2007
I kind of doubt he even remembers a time before Brad though. I mean, Brad's been in his life for years now.

Binky- 03-08-2007
Yeah, Brad's been in Maddox's life for what, over two years now? The kid's only 5, he's not going to remember much about his life with Angelina as a single mom.

Allegedly, Brangelina are adopting a older Vietnamese boy a bit younger than Maddox. Perhaps they want him to have a sibling who isn't a girl and several years younger.

I think it's cool Maddox will have a brother his own age. They can conspire against their sisters when they're old enough.

Wow, she'll be adopting the newest kid by May! I'm sure all plebs hoping to adopt wish it could happen that quickly for them, huh?

She filed in January and it takes at least four months, so that seems on schedule doesn't it?

whatthedeuce- 03-08-2007
Man, I thought it took much longer than that! I thought it took some people years to get an adoption finalized. Apparently, I'm extremely misinformed or something.

Roma79- 03-08-2007
I thought it took years, too. I had neighbors who adopted, and even though they had been married for quite some time, it took them a couple of years to actually get a child. They adopted an American baby, though; I don't know if the rules are different for foreign adoptions.

Esme- 03-08-2007
I think it depends on countries and circumstances. I think Meg Ryan tried to adopt an American baby for years before giving up and adopting a Chinese girl. I know a couple who adopted from Uzbekistan and it only took them four months once they were matched with their child. I think it may help in Angelina's case that she's adopted before so there's already a file on her or that she has already chosen the child or/and that she's adopting an older boy instead of an infant or a girl and so on.

Binky- 03-08-2007
Waiting times for international adoptions tend to be faster, I believe, than public US adoptions, but of course it also depends on the country. 4 months sounds reasonable, although, it's all rumors at this point. I half expect the actual child to be a baby girl rather than a older boy, simply because of the Gleb fiasco a few years ago.

Only if they insist on a newborn white baby. Those are in high demand. And the waiting list is the longest.

One of my co-workers and his wife recently took in a foster child. It only took a month and a half to process. Of course, he's an older child. There's lots of unwanted older kids kicking around the foster care system.

I really wonder about all these couples who complain about the difficulties of adopting. I suspect much of the delays stem from their own stringent requirements. They want an infant. They want a white baby. They want a healthy able-bodied child. Etc. If they're willing to compromise on their demands, I doubt the wait would be as long.

As for Angelina, the adoption process varies from country to country. Though generally, the requirements are more relaxed for overseas adoptions compared to the American system. And it helps that this is her third adoption.

Roma79- 03-08-2007
Come to think of it, my neighbors were pretty clear about wanting a healthy baby that looked like them, meaning white. They ended up with a blonde, blue-eyed boy, but they probably would have gotten a kid a lot faster if they had "settled" for one who didn't meet their strict requirements.

Topic? Angelina is hot. There, I didn't stray too much.

Oh, thanks for all the adoption processing info, guys. I just figured if it took a long time to adopt a kid in the U.S. that it would probably take longer to adopt a kid from a foreign country.
