I keep wanting the judges to call them out on ignoring the guest person's advice. LaKisha ignores it routinely and I think Tony Bennett was totally right about her just going for that last note and holding the hell out of it, rather than the stupid "Ain't no sunshine when he's gone" improv.

Yeah, I was really surprised when Lakisha did that. I mean, it's Tony freaking Bennett! Listen to him! I think some of the con-*test*-('")ants are getting a bit too cocksure, and it bothers me.

What pissed me off is that he was right! Sure he thought Sanjaya was good but on this, he was absolutely right. That little whatever the hell you call it at the end was just stupid.

I feel sorry for this Sanjaya kid. He looks like he's barely out of puberty. Here we go again... Every season, the stupid JUDGES decide to put through some poor pubescent teenage boy: Sanjaya, John Stevens, Chicken Little, and then proceed to use him as their resident whipping boy for public amusement. It's sadistic, really.

I can't hate on these kids. They're in over their heads, and basically they have no choice but to endure the hate wave until they're mercifully released by the voters.

I'm just glad that Sanjaya seems to have a sense of humor and he can laugh at all the hysteria (a hunger strike? oh, for fuck's sake).

Melinda is soooo going to win this season. They cast a bunch of losers this time. She's so far ahead of the pack, it's not even funny. Everyone else is just biding their time until her coronation.

Aww, I'm sad Gina's going home. At first she bugged me, but she really grew on me. Especially last week with Gwen Stefani - I thought her song that week was great.

TiffanyNichelle- 04-04-2007
That was the saddest goodbye yet. Especially since Phil and Haley of the No Pants should have gone before her.

And what a perfect song to sing out on.

FiggyPudding- 04-04-2007
Good singout. Unfortunately, the judges will keep putting though mediocre pity cases like Sanjaya because the vitriol just drives up ratings. A win-win situation for them, lose-lose for us.

She definitely grew on me as well. Her sing-out song ended up being oddly appropriate. I knew the bottom 3 group immediately. And I had a sinking fear that Gina would be the one to go once Phil was deemed safe.

Hopefully Haley will be out next week, but I'm afraid Sanjaya's in it for the long haul.

BrightEyes- 04-04-2007
Put on some pants, Haley!

I'm pissed. This is bullshit!
(Where's Tico Torres?)

whatthedeuce- 04-04-2007
Missed the results, thanks to class. Man, Haley's still here? Oh well, at least my fave guy is still around!

callie- 04-05-2007
Am I mad that Gina got sent home? Yes. Am I more mad that my Phil or Haley prediction fell through? Oh yes.

I am sad about Gina though. Just when she was beginning to grow on me. She really tempted fate with that song though.

Eris Rising- 04-05-2007
Yeah, but how many songs would have fit that "rocker chick" box that the judges keep trying to fit her in? She decided to go for a simple, rather gorgeous, understated performance...which was her downfall, natch.

However, I also thought that it would be Haley or Phil. Don't know about Haley, but I guess that the Nosferatu vote is stronger than I thought.

I think he looks like Powder. Except he doesnt have telekenisis or Jeff Goldblum hanging around. I still like him though.

Either that, or there's a portion of the audience that is really into his references to his wife and 9/11.

Yeah, me too. But at least Haley and her lovely lovely legs is still around. (Simon was so right about that.)

Frankly, I think that anyone who publicly dedicates their performance in a singing competition to the victims of 9/11 or any other major tragedy (unless every performer is doing the same) should be barred from competing in any competition, anywhere, anytime. At that point, no matter what your intentions may be, it comes across as a crass, tasteless pandering for votes. It's like you're subtly saying "If you don't vote for me, then you don't care about the victims, and the terrorists have won."
