Thank you! I cannot stand Blake and Chris R. - I guess I'm just in the minority as well. I thought Sanjaya's performance was terrible yesterday too, and couldn't understand the judges' praise of it. Maybe they are trying to get him eliminated.

Sanjays may have been horrible yesterday but at least he was trying to be entertaining. That was the first time he tried to do something fast but the "rock" clothing...when I think Sanjaya I think about RAWK.
Jordin and Blake remain my favorites. I love them. I want to hug them and squish them and keep them for my very own.

Aside from the awful Sanjaya, I thought Stephanie was really terrible last night. She sounded shaky, and had no depth or fullness to her voice. Where's the girl who dropped to her knees and owned the stage in the early rounds? I think she's a goner.
Or Gina, who did not "rock out" on Paint it Black. I like her, but she just can't find her footing in this competition.
Jordin! Wow! She's never been a stand-out for me (except for her 1000-watt smile) but last night blew me away. One of my fave Idol performances in a long, long time.
LaKisha was only so-so. She did nothing with that song, though. It sounded cheesy.
I have a soft spot for Blake and like what he did last night. Plus, his outfit RULED! Plaid pants!

Blake really annoys me with his beatboxing shit. I would think I'd like him, but I really don't. The kid just can't sing, IMO. He sounded like he could barely carry a note last night. He beatboxes ten thousand times better than he sings, and this ain't American Beatbox Idol so can he please go the fuck away now?
epudom- 03-21-2007
Blake seems like a nice enough guy but his beatboxing is annoying. At some point he's actually going to have to sing a whole song, right?

I seriously feel so sorry for Sanjaya. I know he got himself into this situation, but still -- it has to be misery to know you're going to get savaged. When Simon can't even be bothered to talk to you much, you know it's bad.
I didn't get whatever Gina and Paula were joking about. Nor did Simon, so I'm not alone. DId anyone else? Something to do with painting it purple?
NovemberRain- 03-21-2007
When Paula said Simon should "paint it purple" I thought she was making a gay reference. Or something. I don't know...it's Paula, you guys!
Anyway, I missed all but the last 15 minutes or so. Sniffle! That's what I get for choosing shopping over Idol. ;)

I thought maybe Paula was like Tracy Jordan from 30 Rock and saw some a little purple man dancing onstage that no one else could see.

Sanjaya is in over his head. The judges (or, more likely, the producers) chose him for the top 24, but now they beat him up for being exactly what he was when they picked him. Now the teenyboppers have got him trapped in hell. He's 10 times more painful to watch than Corvais, Baby Conan and the Russian kid, whom all stayed way longer than they should've. I hate how they put these kids in just for the ratings.
I also am not feeling Blake. I've lost any love I had for Sligh. The men just suck all around.

I...think that I did get it. That frightens me.
Paula stated, referencing the earlier misinformation that "Diamonds Are Forever" was Simon's favorite song, that "Paint It Black" was his favorite tune. When she stated "Well, it wouldn't be 'Paint It Purple'," the "crazy talk" part of my brain registered that she must have been talking about his tendency to dress in black.

I'm scared because I got Paula's "joke" also.
I liked Blake until I realize he was going to rework every damn song so he can beatbox in it. Stop it!!
caltrask55- 03-21-2007
Am I crazy or does Blake remind anyone else of a younger, blonde Bono? Seriously, that all I can see when I look at him. Albeit, a better looking Bono...but that's what I see.
Kookla- 03-21-2007
The original "Time of the Season" has the 1960's equivalent of beatboxing in it (which I clearly cannot describe or demonstrate on here), so I don't think Blake had to do much reworking of it. I'm not partial to him one way or another, but I just thought I'd point that out.

He did in the first round but the judges said he was losing his personality (or something tot hat effect) and to go back to doing what he does best.

Yeah, I think that's all she meant. He's always wearing black, and he's such a downer so she said "Paint It Black" would be his fave song rather than something that would be entitled "Paint It Purple" since purple is a more whimsical color. I really shouldn't be explaining Paula's ramblings to anyone. It makes me feel like I get her. I don't wanna get her, y'all.
