Maybe because I am the only person in the world almost completely unfamiliar with Coldplay, but I liked Chris S. and didn't really see why the judges were bitching. I also really liked Blake's performance. Put a full studio behind that and it really does sound like a hit song to me.
Actually,. the judges kind of bugged me. They constantly tell the performers to put their own spin on things, to make the songs their own. And then when they do, they say to leave well enough alone.
Melinda, Lakisha, Jordin and Blake were the tops for me tonight.

I lilked Sligh's arrangement too, but my wife didn't. She thought that messing with a standard (like Blake did too) is what turned the judges off. And it was interesting that they mentioned the arrangement almost exclusively on Sligh and not the quality of his vocals.
Does he have an arrogant streak? Yeah, it seems like it, but I bet that it will be taken down several notches after this week.

DialIdol predictions>>
That better be way off. Sanjaya? Really, America? I don't think any of us, including Sanjaya, can take another week of this<<

I initally misread the DialIdol predictions and thought it said that those in the top 2 spots were likely to go. Thankfully I then re-read the page before causing a blood vessel to burst.

I would be thrilled if Chris Sligh were eliminated, although I'm pretty certain that's not going to happen. He's even more smugly full of himself than Taylor was, and I didn't think anyone was ever going to outsmug Taylor.

I must be completely blind to it, but I just don't see smugness. I think he feels like he has talent and goes with it. I think he's a talented songwriter as well and really thought the arrangement would work, which it apparently did for some but didn't for more.

Melinda Doolittle definitely has my heart. She best not be going anywhere!

I feel like Blake has something, although I don't know what that something is. All I know is that for someone who absolutely does not fit into this show's mold at all, he has been very savvy to play up his strengths and try to hide his weaknesses. I don't really watch this show, but I think I want him to stick around so I can see what his next move will be.

I am so pissed. I just went into a general thread on another board and dumbass posted the Dial Idol results as the main post. I'm sorry but doesn't everyone know that is a spoiler? Grr.
I should just stay here until after results shows. At least you guys know how to hide spoilers.

I liked Blake's version and was completely indifferent about Chris Sligh's. And I disagree when the judges say some classic songs shouldn't be tampered with; Devo covered The Rolling Stone's "Satisfaction" wonderfully, and it doesn't sound a thing like the original.

Yes, I quite liked Blake's version last night and was shocked--SHOCKED! I tell you--to find myself agreeing with Paula: that it could be a pop hit. With more studio refinement, I could hear that on some top 40 station.
The judges are so contradictory! They say, "put your own spin on the songs" and then say "don't mess with classics." Dude, which is it?
Still, Chris S. didn't work for me because it was a Coldplay rip-off. That was "Clocks," man--did he think no one would notice? Although my boyfriend and I got quite a chuckle when Randy said it was Coldplay's "Speed of Sound." Um, no dawg, wrong song.

All Coldplay sounds alike to me. I can't tell those two songs apart. But I agree he embarrassed himself with that song -- sure, it's a syrupy ballad, but that's what makes it memorable. He sucked all the feeling out of it.

Well, so much for DialIdol's accuracy. Although I find it hilarious that they tried to cover themselves last night by saying that 9/12 singers could ALL potentially be in the bottom three. To use a Mean Girl's reference, that's like saying there's a "thirty percent chance that it's already raining" during a storm. Even funnier, one out of the three they predicted to be safe wasn't. So they predicted it was already raining when there were actually big, fat, obvious hailstones falling on their heads...
And I'm going to abandon this analogy now and go and cower in shame.

Fuck the what now? The only thing I can think is that let this be a lesson to remember your words.

Oh I am surprised....also Norah Jones must be sad too - she was his supporter (she mentioned in an interview they went to college together) and >>
Sanjaya>> you are one lucky person.
