11 years may be current compared to some of the other oldies they drudge up for this show. Or maybe current is just code for "band I don't know about."
Bye bye Sanjaya. Please please please bye Sanjaya. And Phil can go too while we're at it.
MichiSichi- 03-06-2007
Sanjaya - you had so much potential....but you know I would rather Sundance go already.
Pumpkin Cake- 03-06-2007
Sundance turned Jeremy into a pop song--if you want to sing rock, there's a starmaking competition for that. There is no way on God's sweet green earth that Pearl Jam fits within the admittedly wide swath AI cuts through popular music. Oh, and it was also horrid.
I couldn't believe that neither Randy, Paula nor Simon had heard that 311 song--or of 311, I bet, since that was one of their hugest hits. And yes, that song is grey around the temples, but I guess it's current compared to "Fever." Criminy. I do love Blake, though.
Thomasina- 03-07-2007
I love Blake, and I still love Brandon. I don't really know why I love him, but I do. I want him to at least make it to the finals so he can go on the tour. And I didn't even mind Jared tonight, and Chris Sligh was good (but I'd never heard that song either.)
The rest of them though? Sucked. Hard.
Does anyone else use DialIdol? I think the guy has messed with a good thing. The dude puts out a new version, like every week. Which is annoying. And while it still autodials for you, your votes only register every time you hit a busy signal, and there's no way to press a button and say - report my votes. In short, there are probably hundreds of uncounted votes, and that's why he's been off this year.
MaddyCat- 03-07-2007
Why does Chris Sligh sing christian rock songs? I mean, cheers to him for not bowing to expectations or whatever, but I find his song choices unappealing. Is there a huge market out there for Christian rock? I have no clue.
Still, he'll sail through as will Blake.
Phil sounded so weird last night--and a LeAnne Rimes song? Really?
Sundance and Pearl Jam do NOT go together. Ever. Please go home Sundance, and take Sanjaya with you.
TiffanyNichelle- 03-07-2007
Chris S. used to front a Christian rock band. I am not a fan of christian rock though. Except for that one Jars of Clay song.
NovemberRain- 03-07-2007
I also believe Chris is a youth minister so that may have something to do with it.
The girls were all pretty good except, of course, for Antonella and Haley. Who sings that song that Melinda sang?
Oh, and on a shallow note, I floved that dress Sabrina wore. So pretty!
callie- 03-07-2007
If Antonella doesn't get voted off, I'll...do something. Sputter inchorently with rage. Something.
I think Gina should also go. For me she was the second worst. It's amazing how much better the girls are than the guys.
TiffanyNichelle- 03-07-2007
Tomorrow Antonella and Hailey have got to go. Hailey because she's so boring and Antonella because she's her.
Melinda is so good it's almost embarrasing. The only way I see her not winning is if Her fanbase is shared by Lakisha and Stephanie and she ends up getting voted out because of that. Like when LaToya, Jennifer and Fantasia all ended up in the bottom 3 that time.

Peggy Lee. Or at least that's the only version I know and love.
Livilla- 03-07-2007
My favorite version of "I'm A Woman" was sung by Raquel Welsh and Miss Piggy when Raquel Welsh hosted The Muppet Show. There was some funny business about the line "I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan" and then Miss Piggy ended the song by spelling P-I-G. Good times.
Melinda is awesome and delightful and I want her to win so bad. I don't really care about the guys, even though Brandon is a cutie.
Eris Rising- 03-07-2007
Yeah, I'm hopping on the Melinda bandwagon. I wanted to wait till the last pre-final twelve show before committing myself, but it's beyond obvious that she's the most talented overall singer and performer that they have in the entire group. Not only that, but she's almost excessively modest in interviews and when she's getting the feedback from the judges. Total package.
Thomasina- 03-08-2007
I'd like to direct everyone's attention to page one of this thread where I said I really liked Melinda. Do I get to drive the bandwagon? Or at least ride shotgun? I really liked her dress tonight, too.
BrightEyes- 03-08-2007
Aww, I love Gina and her little red streak and her little faux rocker boyfriend with his matching red streak. Too cute.
She does need to stop screaming. However, I am sick os LaKisha already, and I would much rather have Gina than someone who copies. Whitney. verbaitim. How boring.

This is also my very favorite version of this song. Melinda was the only performance that I watched with the sound on and she owned the stage. I love that she went back and kind of acknowledged the background singers, too.
Oh wait, no, I saw Gina too. I like that she did something so different, but I don't think that she really had the range to cover the song completely. She relied too much on the background singers to hit the high notes.
