What do you think they should do? I basically agree with you; I don't understand putting people in the top 24 that don't make the grade vocally. There must be something P/S/R see in the auditions that we don't, because as far as I can tell, they've become more rigid in their standards over time. Didn't Sundance redeem himself somewhat this time, though?
I think Sanjaya has had his confidence beat down - he probably could sing better, but won't. I think he's getting the voters that that nerdy kid got last year, the "awww!" voters.
On a shallow note, the guys are looking too uniform, IMO. Begone with the baggy pants and shirts.
Oh, and my husband's new co-worker went to Catholic University with Antonella (the architecture program, of all things). Sadly, no gossip - the only thing he could offer is that she wasn't particularly bright.

The Vote For the Worst thing is new to me. What is their mission statement - to have the worst possible person win? If so, why?
If their nefarious tactics somehow prevent Melinda from making it to the final, I will fly to the US and cut some bitches...

The best moment for me was Ryan looking pointedly at Kelly Pickler's brand-new bazongas: "So, you bought..... shoes? Nothing else?"
I always thought that AmId would have very different results if instead of voting for the person you liked best, you voted for the person you most wanted to see leave. Support for con-*test*-('")ants can be pretty fractured, but the majority of people generally agree on who the least appealing singer is. With the system how it is, though, if the bad singer has a really dedicated fan base (who was that red-headed teenage crooner boy?) or the support of VFTW, they've got a great chance of making it through.

Yeah, Kelllie looked horrid. Like a really bad Dolly Parton impersonator with that outfit and the hair. In my opinion, she has zero stage presence and the outfit/makeup made her look 40.

| AI will continue to get the winner they deserve (Carrie to a certain extent, but Taylor is the first real VFTW winner) until they make some serious overhauls in the voting system. |
I'm not a big Carrie fan, but she has won a Grammy and has sold millions of records. So in that instance I think the winner did happen to be the person that is most marketable to the public.
Taylor, on the other hand, has had abysmal album sales so far and has been panned critically. I think VFTW probably did contribute to some small extent to his win. However, I think the importance of VFTW is probably overstated. It is a group on the internet, and a lot of AI voters don't pay attention to the net. There may be a small contingent of "Soul Patrol" fans, but I think most people who voted for him just liked the novelty of some gray haired weirdo winning rather than genuinely liking his singing.

The sunshine and daisies part of me who wants everyone to do well hopes Sanjay can pull it out and improve. Logically, I know he's to young and inexperienced and he should be gone. Even he knows he should be gone. His look when they announced he'd be staying said it all.

It would have different results, but it would also change the tone of the show. It would go from "America voted for you!" to "America hated you less!"
Not that I wouldn't put it past Fox, but I think it would take away from the spirit of the show.

You know that show where they're picking a Danny and Sandy for run of Grease, the one that's based on the UK Sound of Music reality show? The way they do it is that they let the public vote for who they want and then there's a bottom four or something, and then the judges make the actual boot decision. This would at least allow the American Idol people to go, "Okay, no, it's Sanjaya who's going, sorry." Granted, if VFTW managed to keep Antonella and Sanjaya out of the bottom entirely, no, there's nothing the judges could do about it. But if it came down to two people, they could definitely save the one who deserved to stay.

I would like that so much better, even if it did mean outcries of: I'm only leaving because Simon hates me/my mother/my haircut! Wah!
Because sometimes America just doesn't know anything about picking an Idol. Taylor struggling on the charts right now while Daughtry doing very well for himself. Though I suppose someone could argue Daughtry is just more marketable.

The best argument I heard against this was using Carrie and Bo as an example. If it had been "vote for which one to kick off", their fans would've eliminated the other very early on. I.e, all the Carrie fans vote furiously for Bo to get kicked off, then, the next week, all the Bo fans retaliate by voting Carrie off.

Hilarious.
I am in still in shock that
she looks like this...
before and more really, what a bad stylist to take her to looking like a 40 year old...plus she seemed so uncomfortable up there.

Crack is being smoked tonight on American Idol.

I swear, Sanjaya better be voted off on Thursday.
And this is really stupid, but did Sundance say the f-word while singing "Jeremy"? I couldn't tell.
Auron- 03-06-2007
Someone sang a Pearl Jam song on American Idol?
. . .
Oh, my heart hurts.
TiffanyNichelle- 03-06-2007
Someone did a really bad rendition of Jeremy on AI. And then someone else did a 311 song that is at least 11 years old (I had the cd freshmen year of college) and Randy called *that* current. Wow.
Even my mother was this close to throwing things at Sanjaya during his song.
