I've never thought that VftW had that much influence, but I think it is definitely easier for them to skew the earlier episodes. I mean, how many people actually vote in the pre-"top 12" shows? I can't even watch the whole thing.

dialidol.com puts both Sundance and Antonella in the top 5 number of votes, and I think that's pretty convincing evidence that VftW (and probably radio shows or whatever local groups there might be) do have an influence.

I thought the choice to have the "Idols" sing "Sowing the Seeds of Love" was bizarre. I like the song, but it seemed like a strange choice for this show.

Also, did anyone else notice that Ryan totally cut off Quincy Jones when he was going to say something about Fantasia being in The Color Purple. I'm sure it was an oversight on Ryan's part, but that's Quincy friggin' Jones!

I cracked up at the awkwardness, but I'm pretty sure it happened because Ryan couldn't hear Quincy talking, so he just continued on with the intro without realizing he was interrupting.
