That first cut with the girls was brutal. Overall I thought I understood the judges (and that they kept their word on the forgetting lyrics thing- which they did not do last year) but I didn't see anything wrong with Jory- the girl who went first- and thought she was much better and stronger than the non-bitchy half of BFF who is not going to have the confidence or presence to keep going without her bitchy half.

I think if she had tried to at least make up some words she would have lasted. But just standing there, smiling while the music plays did nothing for her. I think she got screwed over by those two NJ bitches but she still could have tried harder to learn the damn song.

I didn't either. I think that the judges had probably agreed, possibly ahead of time, to cut the first six regardless. They were totally spoiled for choice among the girls, and could afford to lose any six in the whole pack, knowing that they'd still have plenty to choose from. They did it so that the rest of the bunch wouldn't be thinking, "oh, they'll cut everyone but me, I'm so great."

It was too bad that Bailey allowed the BFFs to psych her out. In the unlikely event that I would ever be in a situation like that, I'd spend most of my time memorizing the damn lyrics.

I'm pleased that the judges seem to be going for skillful, classic singing this year as opposed to Mariah Carey's style of melisma.

Well that was ridiculous, frankly. I thought Marisa was by far the best singer out of everyone shown (male and female) and not only do they cut her- irrationally- but they highlight their own stupidity by simultaneously passing Antonella (not only inferior to Marisa, but one of the weakest in the bunch, though not un-talented) at the same time.

I can't believe they choose Sundance and Bitchy NJ girl over the other two. The first girl, Marisa? Was way better and Sundance has proven that he's an absolute mess.

So of course those two will make it to the final 12.

The only reason why I considered the possibility of Sundance not getting through was because they showed the other dude flirting with the brown-haired NJ chick, and I thought for sure they'd pass both of them through just to have some added drama. Alas, I was wrong. I remember liking his initial audition, but Sundance's suckitude in Hollywood week is all I remember of him now that that's all they've shown for the past couple of episodes. If they're trying to pimp him out, they're doing a bad job of it.

I was wasting time on YouTube last night and found a bunch of videos from that beatboxing dude, Blake Lewis. Even though he's disturbingly talented, American Idol is all wrong for him. He'd be an idiot not to already know this - I'm sure his plan is just to make it as far as he can (but not too far) and then use that exposure to get his own deal. Because if he wins AI, they'll eat his soul.
