All I get is clockwise. I can't even wrap my brain around how that could be a representation of a dancer going anti-clockwise*. I suspect they're yanking our collective chain.

(* - Or, er, counter-clockwise. I've been watching too much James Burke again.)

I got it to go counter-clockwise. It's totally weird! Then I got it to switch back. What I did was block the field of vision associated with the way she was turning. Field of vision takes up half of what you see from each eye. When she is turning clockwise, cover the left half of both of your eyes, and right half for counterclockwise. Fun and freaky!

Look the things I learned in undergrad do have a use in real life!

Oh, man, that dancer frustrated me for way too long last week. For a while, I was convinced that it was a joke and that the animation changes on its own. But finally I was able to get it to switch for me by concentrating on the non-swinging leg.

Here's a link where the animation is "explained." They've added in a line so you can see which leg is in front of the other.

You mean, they've drawn her a butt-crack. Hee hee. [/third grade]

Argh, that dancer animitation is down right creepy! First I saw it going clock-wise (right brained). But then I covered one eye, and she switched! Man, that's weird. Stop trying to break my brain.

punkysdilemma- 10-11-2007
I only see clockwise, which is funny because I am pretty much the opposite of everything they listed under right-brained.

The hand clasp -*test*-('") (thread your fingers together in front of you without thinking about it and see which thumb lands on top) says left thumb = left-brained for me.

Putli Bai- 10-11-2007
I'm going to drive myself insane trying to make her switch. But then, I'm so right-brained that I'm not entirely sure my left side even works half of the time.

This is worse than those Magic Eye pictures.

[Neo] Whoah. [/Neo]

When I had the anti-clockwise Flash file going, I could see the animation going anti-clockwise for the first time. (I use Flashblock so I was able to selectively start the two Flash files.) But if I look away and just go to the animation page itself I'm stuck in clockwise mode again.

That was... interesting.

Wouldn't that also have something to do with your dominant hand? My left thumb was on top, but I'm left handed, so it just felt natural.

Of course, doesn't the left/right brain theory connect to handedness?

I can't get her to switch. Even the link supposedly showing it going count-clockwise looks clockwise to me. MY BRAIN IS BROKEN.

bookworm- 10-11-2007
But, according to the hand -*test*-('") I'm right brained, but according to the dancer -*test*-('"), I'm left brained. I'm also left handed, so I have no idea. *is confused*

tothemax- 10-11-2007
I can only see counterclockwise.

The Glen- 10-11-2007
I saw it anti-clockwise, then an ad came up and blocked it, and after that I could only see it clockwise. Weird.

Not sure, but I'm definitely right-handed. Silly thumb.

I'm middle-brained. I never score more than a few points higher on one side or the other.

I can see the dancer in both directions. At first I had to tilt my head, but then I could switch her by thinking about it.

I'm ambidexterous so I think that helps.

I swear the animation did change on its own when I watched it. At first, she was going clockwise then there was a half-second pause and then she was going counter-clockwise. Then another half-second pause and she was going clockwise again. It wasn't that I looked away and then looked back either - I never took my eyes from the animation. I think they're fucking with us.
